Yen Minh commune leaders inspected the landslide area in village 6. |
From September 28th to now, the commune has had prolonged heavy rains, accompanied by strong whirlwinds, affecting and damaging 106 houses and other infrastructure works, with an estimated loss of over 13 billion VND. In particular, in village 6 and Khuon Ang village, a crack about 40m long and 30cm wide appeared and 3 landslides appeared from the top of the mountain down, with the risk of landslides directly affecting about 400 households and many welfare works. Also in Na Ma village, 5 cracks 20-50cm wide were discovered, which are sinking and eroding, threatening many households and restaurants in the surrounding area.
Chairman of Yen Minh Commune People's Committee Pham Van Son informed: "On the morning of October 7, the commune mobilized forces to help urgently evacuate 60 households, nearly 250 people and valuable assets out of the high-risk landslide area in Hamlet 6, Khuon Ang Hamlet. The commune temporarily arranged for people to stay at the Political Center, cultural houses, and some old headquarters. At the same time, it ensured thoughtful logistics, providing adequate food, clean water, and essential necessities for the relocated households."
Currently, Yen Minh commune has assigned forces to monitor 24/24 hours, put up warning signs to prevent people from entering or leaving dangerous areas. At the same time, the commune People's Committee has reported and recommended that superiors inspect, verify, and evaluate areas at high risk of landslides and consider declaring a natural disaster emergency in the area.
