The Vietnam Pickleball Tournament - Hyundai Thanh Cong Cup 2025 takes place over three days, from July 4 to 6, 2025, at the D-JOY Pickleball Court Complex (Ho Chi Minh City) - one of the high-standard sports venues in the Southern region.
The tournament is organized and operated according to the Pickleball Competition Rules of the United States Pickleball Association (USAPA) - a set of rules that are internationally recognized and commonly applied in major tournaments around the world.
With a total prize value of over 1 billion VND, the 2025 Vietnam Pickleball Championship is not only a sports playground but also a place to mark passion, demonstrate professional competitive spirit and inspire the community.

12 Pickleball Terms About Ball Hitting Technique
1. ACE: An ace serve. The opponent cannot return the ball.
2. Volley: In a rally, a shot is made while the ball is still in the air and has not yet touched the ground. This shot is usually made close to the net and requires agility, precision and high coordination between the two hands.
3. Dink: In Pickleball, a soft hit is made close to the net to send the ball into the opponent's court in an unpredictable manner and make it difficult for them to return. One tactic is to hit the ball lightly enough to land it in the kitchen area. This creates an opportunity for an error by the opponent or to set up a better attacking shot.
4. Smash: A powerful shot that is fired from above to hit the ball down towards the opponent's court with great speed and force. Smash is an effective offensive shot that helps players score points quickly and put pressure on their opponents.
5. Approach shot: This is a shot that is made while the player is moving forward, towards the net. The purpose of this shot is to prepare for a volley or a shot close to the net. This is an important part of the playing strategy, helping the player to move from a defensive position to an offensive position.
6. Backspin: Refers to a type of shot where the player creates a backspin on the ball. When performing a backspin shot, the player swings the racket downward (or slice) the ball, causing the ball to spin in the opposite direction of its travel. This causes the ball to have a low and slow trajectory when it hits the ground, and at the same time bounce back in an unpredictable manner.
7. Down the Line : A Pickleball term used to describe a shot that is parallel to the net and aimed at the opponent's side of the court. This shot is usually played from the non-volley zone and aimed at the opponent's volley zone on the other side of the net.
8. DRIVE: A low, straight forehand shot that is hit with a lot of power to send the ball quickly and far into the opponent's court. This shot is usually played from the baseline or non-volley zone and is aimed at the opponent's volley zone.
9. Drop Shot : Is a shot that is executed with moderate force to send the ball softly and low over the net. DROP SHOT can be used to hit the opponent's body, making it difficult for them to block the ball and creating a scoring opportunity for you.
10. Drop Shot Volley: A type of volley shot that is played to take advantage of the speed of the ball and return the ball short, close to the net when the opponent is at the back of the court. This shot is especially effective when played near the air line.
11. Drop Spin: A high spin slice shot when the ball goes over the net. In Pickleball this is a combination of the drop shot and spin technique to create an effective and unpredictable shot. This technique requires a lot of practice.
12. Lob: In Pickleball, a high, long shot that is played to send the ball over the opponent's head and into their back court. This shot is often used to create distance, buy time to get back on the defensive, and force the opponent to hit the ball from a difficult position.

Qualifying and Quarterfinals: Each match is played in 1 set of 11 points. Players or pairs will change sides when the total score reaches 6. In case of a tie of 10-10, the player/pair who reaches 11 points first will win. All matches are played to the last point, no 2-point difference applies.
Semi-finals: Play 1 set of 15 points, change sides when reaching 8 points. The player/couple who reaches 15 points first is the winner.
Final and Super Cup: Apply the competition format of 03 sets of 11 points, the athlete/couple who wins the first 02 sets will win the championship. The first two sets do not change sides; only in the third set, the sides change sides after the total score reaches 6.

Each win is worth 1 point, while a loss is not counted. The player or pair with the higher total points will be ranked higher.
In the event of two players or pairs being tied on points, the ranking will be determined by the head-to-head results. In the event of three or more teams being tied on points, the ranking will be determined by the difference in the number of games played.

Flexible competition format
The Vietnam Pickleball Tournament - Hyundai Thanh Cong Cup 2025 is organized in a flexible and scientific competition format, ensuring compliance with international professional standards and in accordance with the practical number of athletes registered in each event.
According to the regulations, each competition can only be held when there are at least 4 athletes or 4 couples participating. Based on the specific number of registrations, the Organizing Committee will choose the appropriate competition format, which can apply the single-elimination format or a round-robin format to calculate points, to ensure fair competition and professional quality of each match.
