Building a commercial production model of hybrid glutinous corn variety HN92 in Hai Duong province (Hai Phong city)

On the afternoon of October 3, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) of Hai Phong organized a conference to consult, evaluate and accept the city-level science and technology task: "Building a commercial production model of hybrid glutinous corn variety HN92 in Hai Duong province (Hai Phong city)". Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology Le Luong Thinh was the Chairman of the Council.

The task was chaired by the Center for Science and Technology Application and Variety Testing of Hai Duong province (now the Center for Innovation and Science and Technology Application of Hai Phong), with Engineer Bui Cong Hien as the head.

To implement the research, the Project Management Board conducted a survey and selected 02 locations in Hai Duong province ( Hai Phong city) suitable in terms of natural conditions, geographical location, and farming practices to implement the commercial production model of hybrid glutinous corn HN92 to ensure the requirements set out. The results showed that in 30 hectares of the model, there were 15 hectares in the Autumn-Winter crop of 2024 and 15 hectares in the Spring crop of 2025. The average yield of hybrid glutinous corn HN92 in the Autumn-Winter crop of 2024 was 15.2 tons/ha, 1.8 tons/ha higher than the control variety HN88; bringing in a profit of 22.577 million VND/ha. In the Spring crop of 2025, the average yield reached 15.4 tons/ha, 1.9 tons/ha higher than the control variety, bringing in a profit of 18.740 million VND/ha.

The study has proposed a technical process for commercial production of hybrid glutinous corn HN92 suitable for the conditions of Hai Duong province (Hai Phong city) by determining the sowing method as sowing in pots. Density, planting distance: 47,000 plants/ha (planting distance: row/row - plant/plant: 70/30cm) and using the amount of fertilizer according to the process 140N: 90K 2 O: 90P 2 O 5. The project management board also organized 04 technical training courses on the sowing process of hybrid glutinous corn HN92 for 200 participants and 02 field workshops to propagate the model results through conference delegates.

With the above results, the Scientific Council unanimously accepted the results of the task implementation after the Project Management Board edited and supplemented the following contents: The introduction section added more objectives; in the overview section, added a list of references associated with the overview citation, updated new and more current data; the content section edited the data to match the comments... Finally, corrected spelling errors to complete the report./.
