Building a 'Green - Clean - Healthy School' model for primary school students

Not only knowledge, children also need a safe, clean and healthy learning environment. Equipping children with knowledge about health and school hygiene right from primary school is an important step in creating a solid foundation to support the comprehensive development of young children.

Unilever Vietnam and 5 brands VIM, Lifebuoy, OMO, P/S, Pureit have strategically cooperated with the Ministry of Education and Training to implement the "Green - Clean - Healthy School" model, aiming to build a safe and hygienic learning environment for primary school students.

The "Green - Clean - Healthy School" model aims to build a green - clean - healthy learning environment and foster 5 healthy hygiene habits, committed to reaching millions of students in primary schools in Vietnam in the period 2021 - 2025.

Responding to the United Nations' annual World Toilet Day, VIM brand has deployed a model at Tan Quy Primary School, District 7 , Ho Chi Minh City, upgrading toilet facilities and hand washing areas as well as equipping students with hygiene knowledge through a series of lectures on hygiene habits.

The "Green - Clean - Healthy School" program is part of the long-term cooperation framework between the Ministry of Education and Training and Unilever Vietnam.

Upgrading toilet quality, improving school safety

The program has upgraded and repainted the entire school facilities, including restrooms, hand washing areas, and sponsored toilet cleaner and necessary cleaning supplies, helping nearly 1,800 students at Tan Quy Primary School to study and play in a standard school environment, thereby having the opportunity to develop comprehensively in terms of physical, intellectual and spiritual aspects.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Tam, Director of Home Care and Specialty Products, shared: " Through the "Green - Clean - Healthy School" program, we hope to create a clean and healthy learning environment for students and schools, as well as form healthy hygiene habits for them. Hopefully, with the upgraded facilities, students will have a more complete learning and hygiene environment, contributing to improving green - clean - healthy habits, so that every day at school for them is a happy day."

The school restroom after being upgraded is cleaner and more airy with Vim bleach, each hand washing sink is equipped with Lifebuoy antibacterial soap and standard hand washing procedures.

" Before, I was a bit shy about using the restroom when I went to school, but now I'm not afraid anymore because the restroom has been upgraded to be more spacious and cleaner, " Nguyen Phan Quynh Lam, a student in class 5.3 at Tan Quy Primary School, shared.

Raising awareness with "Green - Clean - Healthy School Electronic Lesson Plan"

In addition to investing in upgrading toilets, Unilever Vietnam also raises awareness of green - clean - healthy habits for students through the Green - Clean - Healthy school electronic lesson plan system. The electronic lesson plan includes lectures and real-life situations on maintaining and using clean toilets, which are highly appreciated by teachers and enthusiastically responded by students, thereby building good hygiene habits from the beginning for young children.

Lessons on hygiene and health habits according to the "Green - Clean - Healthy School Electronic Lesson Plan" are always exciting and enthusiastic.

Sharing at the event, Mr. Doan Hoang Minh - a teacher at the school, said: "Having additional electronic lesson plans on health, hygiene and healthy habits will help students easily access knowledge as well as raise awareness."

Inspire with Green - Clean - Healthy School Festival

The highlight of the program was the animation and the theme song "5 habits for comprehensive health and cleanliness". Through the lively performance on stage, the knowledge about hygiene and health, which seemed dry, was now absorbed by the students with excitement and interest.

The lively performance attracted the attention and enthusiastic interaction of both children and teachers.

At the ceremony, teachers and students of Tan Quy Primary School launched a green - clean - healthy competition program, maintaining 5 good hygiene habits in schools. Nearly 1,800 gifts of personal hygiene and health care products for students and parents were also given by Unilever Vietnam to students of Tan Quy Primary School to spread the message of maintaining hygiene and maintaining good hygiene habits at home.

Up to now, the program has contributed to improving the sanitary environment for 330 schools, building and creating good hygiene habits for nearly 231,000 students in more than 30 provinces and cities across the country. On the journey to create a green - clean - healthy environment, Unilever Vietnam said that it not only wants to bring students a good, healthy, and hygienic learning environment, but more deeply, it wants to build good hygiene and health habits, and raise awareness for the future generations of the country.
