From 5:30 a.m. on September 5, the cafeteria of Thuy Lam A Primary School was bustling again after three months of summer. The catering staff were busy selecting vegetables, meat and fish to prepare lunch for the students.
Then, the raw materials are transferred to the processing and cleaning area.

When the dishes are finished, each tray of rice is divided into portions for elementary school students. Each tray includes rice, main dish, vegetables, soup and dessert.

Before serving, the kitchen takes and stores food samples according to regulations, which are sealed and carefully preserved to ensure food safety and hygiene inspection.

Le Huyen Trang (class 5A) shared: "The food at school is delicious, just like the food my mother cooks. Last year I didn't eat at school, but this year my mother registered for me to eat at school." Le Quoc Hoan, Principal of Thuy Lam A Primary School, said: “This year, Hanoi City issued Resolution No. 18/2025 on the mechanism for supporting boarding meals. Thanks to this policy, the number of parents registering their children for boarding meals has increased significantly, from more than 100 students last year to 464 students this school year." Regarding food safety, Mr. Le Quoc Hoan shared that the school has signed a contract with a qualified kitchen supplier, strictly following the procedures from selecting ingredients, preparing, processing to preserving. Each meal is strictly controlled, and samples are kept according to regulations to ensure absolute safety for students. Resolution No. 18/2025 stipulates the support level for primary school students studying at educational institutions in mountainous communes and communes in the Red River delta, the support level is 30,000 VND/student/day (main meal support). For primary school students studying at the remaining educational institutions in Hanoi, the support level is 20,000 VND/student/day (main meal support).
The estimated budget for implementing the policy of supporting boarding meals for 100% of primary school students in the 2025-2026 school year is about 3,063 billion VND.
