Building a heritage bank of contemporary Vietnamese Buddhist art

The Church is coordinating with the literary and artistic community to build a contemporary Vietnamese Buddhist cultural festival; connecting Buddhism with national culture and contemporary art.

The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha will strengthen cooperation with specialized literary and artistic associations to join hands in spreading the good values ​​of Buddhism in social life.

Specifically, the Central Cultural Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha signed a media cooperation agreement with the Vietnam Fine Arts Association, the Vietnam Writers Association , the Vietnam Musicians Association, the Vietnam Stage Artists Association, the Vietnam Architects Association and the Vietnam Folk Arts Association.

According to Most Venerable Thich Tho Lac, Standing Member of the Executive Council, Head of the Central Cultural Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, this is an important milestone, demonstrating the spirit of cooperation and connection between Vietnamese Buddhism and the literary and artistic community, joining hands to spread the good values ​​of Buddhism in today's society.

According to the Venerable, for over two thousand years, Vietnamese Buddhism has not only been a religion of compassion and wisdom, but also a source of culture that contributes to the formation of national identity. In the integration period, the Church wishes to accompany creative people to build a contemporary Buddhist culture - where religion blends with life, and art becomes a means of enlightenment and love.

On this occasion, the Central Cultural Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha launched the national Buddhist art creation campaign "Creating Buddhism in Life" in 2025, encouraging the creation of works imbued with the spirit of Buddhism in many fields: Literature and Art, Music and Performing Arts, Fashion and Applications, Festival Architecture, Design, Media and Publishing, Festival Cuisine, Experience and Community Activities, and Interdisciplinary Cooperation.

According to the Organizing Committee, this year's theme is to build a model of a contemporary Vietnamese Buddhist cultural festival, honoring the spirit of compassion, wisdom, and harmony; connecting Buddhism with national culture and contemporary art, targeting the young generation, international audiences, and the global Buddhist community.

The movement “Enlightening the Way in Life” aims to create and form a bank of contemporary Buddhist art heritage, as a cultural foundation for today and tomorrow. Through the power of art forms, the program hopes to spread Buddhism into life, so that the light of religion is present in every breath of life, contributing to “enlightening the Way in life”, nurturing a good soul.

Typical works will be displayed, performed and applied in Vietnamese Buddhist cultural festivals, contributing to building an art space with regional identity, in the spirit of unity in diversity./.
