On the afternoon of October 11, in Hanoi, the 38th Annual Conference of the Asia- Pacific Bar Association (LAWASIA 2025) officially opened with the participation of about 600 domestic and international delegates.

Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long and representatives of leaders of a number of central ministries and branches attended the Conference.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long emphasized: The 38th Annual Conference of the Asia-Pacific Bar Association is an important event, an opportunity for the regional community of lawyers, attorneys, and legal experts to share experiences and demonstrate their determination to join hands in building a transparent, accessible, and stable legal environment, promoting common prosperity.

After nearly 60 years of establishment and development, the Asia-Pacific Bar Association has affirmed its role as a leading prestigious intellectual forum, a connecting center, a place for convergence, dialogue and cooperation of legal scholars in the region, making increasingly practical contributions to promoting the rule of law, protecting justice, and creating a peaceful, stable and developed region.

This year's conference, themed “Transactions in Asia-Pacific: Legal, Cultural and Environmental Challenges,” reflects the region's new connectivity and development requirements.

Along with plenary sessions, thematic sessions, and discussions with rich and diverse content, the results of the Conference will provide reference value for legislative, executive and judicial agencies, the business community, and people of each member country, contributing to shaping a safe, convenient, green and humane trading ecosystem in the region.

Promoting the nation's heroic historical and cultural traditions and the important achievements gained after 40 years of renovation, Vietnam is entering a new era with the aspiration to become a developing country with modern industry and high middle income by 2030 and a developed country with high income by 2045.

To realize that vision, Vietnam has identified a key task as continuing to build and perfect the Vietnamese socialist rule-of-law state; taking people as the center, subject, goal, driving force, and resource for development; ensuring human rights, civil rights, promoting democracy, the rule of law, and international integration.

Therefore, Vietnam has issued and implemented breakthrough policies in many fields such as science and technology development, private economy, healthcare, education, etc.

Vietnam pledges to strongly support multilateralism and the core values ​​of the United Nations, respect international law and the United Nations Charter; proactively participate and make substantial contributions to maintaining regional and international peace and stability, and promptly and effectively respond to global challenges.

Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long hopes that the Bar Association, legal scientists, jurists, lawyers, judges and practitioners will continue to coordinate closely and cooperate more effectively within the framework of the Conference and other international organizations to contribute to solving global legal issues.

The Deputy Prime Minister believes that the results of this Conference will spread strongly to the legal communities of member countries, materializing into specific recommendations for many countries to improve policies and laws, promote international cooperation, join hands to solve global legal issues, promote a fair world, comply with the United Nations Charter and the rule of law.

Lawyer Do Ngoc Thinh, President of the Vietnam Bar Federation, said that the 38th Annual Conference of the Asia-Pacific Bar Association, organized by the Asia-Pacific Law Association in coordination with the Vietnam Bar Federation from October 11-13 in our country, demonstrates the trust of the Asia-Pacific Bar Association in the host country, Vietnam.

The conference focused on discussing urgent legal issues such as: Regional legal cooperation in the context of globalization; rule of law and judicial reform; international arbitration and dispute resolution; human rights, digital rights and technology law; the role of lawyers in promoting sustainable development.

The conference is expected to have 34 thematic sessions on many fields such as: Criminal; Media, Technology and data security; Environmental law; Competition and anti-monopoly law; Constitution; Labor law; International cybercrime; Strengthening the foundation of peace, cooperation and development in the East Sea region on the basis of international law...

The Asia-Pacific Bar Association Annual Conference is held annually in one of its member countries to create a connection between ideas, innovations, updates on operational trends, developments and exchange of experiences. It is also an important forum for building professional networks, strengthening professional values ​​and enhancing the status of the legal profession in the Asia-Pacific region.

The event is also an opportunity for investors and businesses to learn about legal policies, investment and business opportunities, contributing to attracting foreign investment as well as international tourists./.
