On November 30, in Hanoi, the Department of Performing Arts (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) organized the announcement of the selection of "50 outstanding and outstanding Vietnamese literary and performing arts works after the country's reunification (1975-2025)."
The event has important and strategic significance for the country's culture, literature and arts, marking a new step forward in implementing the Party's Resolutions on culture, implementing the Strategy for the Development of Vietnam's Cultural Sector to 2035, with a vision to 2045, towards building and developing an advanced Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity in the new era.
Creations that last through the years
Writer Chu Lai with the script "Red Rain" , writer Bao Ninh with the novel "The Sorrow of War" and many famous artists were honored.
Receiving the award, writer Chu Lai expressed regret and sorrow that many artists were no longer with him. 50 years is just a blink of an eye in history, but it is a lifetime.

"Many people know 'Red Rain' through the film and book of the same name, but few people know that it is also a well-written script. I appreciate the fact that the work has become a good, artistic play," writer Chu Lai said emotionally.
Mr. Chu Lai added that the Vietnamese people have never turned their backs on the topic of war. It is not that this topic is old, but how we develop, deepen and renew it.
"In Vietnam, many elderly authors are still 'diligently working in the field of literature.' That is the most profound answer: After all the historical upheavals of the nation, we still create good works," he confided.
Musician Do Hong Quan was happy when he and his father - musician Do Nhuan - were both honored.
“We are the next generation, always aiming for the path of revolutionary art. We want to use sounds and musical notes to record the development stages of the country. We compose with different jobs but all aim for the people and are confident in our creativity,” the musician expressed.

In the literature category, poet Tran Dang Khoa was honored with his work “Sunken Island.” He expressed his emotion when receiving this noble award. According to him, the award is not only for himself but also for the soldiers who are guarding the Truong Sa archipelago day and night.
He mentioned the submerged islands – just underground strips of land in the middle of the sea – where soldiers had to build huts to guard the sacred sea and sky of the Fatherland, a hardship much more than what people on the mainland could imagine.
The poet said he only writes the truth, about real people. Besides the iron and cement milestones affirming sovereignty , there are other special “milestones” – works of art, songs, plays, films… Those spiritual values are milestones that no time or storm can erase.
Looking back at literature and art after half a century
With nearly 200 works in the fields of literature, theater, music and dance, the Voting Council worked objectively, scientifically, with a high sense of responsibility, selecting 50 typical and excellent works, vividly reflecting the changes of the country, the aspirations for peace , national harmony, and the achievements in building and defending the Fatherland in the new period.
This is an activity to honor and recognize the great contributions of generations of artists who have used art to preserve history and nurture the Vietnamese soul and personality.

Honoring authors and works strengthens pride in Vietnamese cultural traditions, fosters the spirit of solidarity, patriotism and the will to rise of the nation, and contributes to affirming the strategic role of literature and art in the cause of national development after reunification - when "the country and rivers are reunited."
This is also an opportunity for the public to look back at the great achievements of Vietnamese performing arts and literature over the past half century - a creative journey full of courage, innovation and aspiration.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh affirmed that this is an important event of Vietnamese culture, literature and arts, towards the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the 85th anniversary of National Day, practically implementing the Party's Resolutions on culture, the Strategy for the development of Vietnam's cultural sector to 2035, with a vision to 2045.
According to Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh, 50 years after the country was reunified, Vietnamese literature and performing arts have achieved important results.

The typical works published during this period have recorded in a realistic and vivid way the country's journey of overcoming difficulties due to the severe consequences of war, blockade, embargo, and successfully implementing the renovation and international integration. Literature and art are the soul of culture, one of the great driving forces promoting socio-economic development, building and defending the Fatherland.
Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh called on artists and intellectuals nationwide to be people who seek and honor true beauty. Each work must be the crystallization of love for the homeland and country, and of a deep understanding of people and life in contemporary Vietnam. The Deputy Prime Minister called on artists to create works of new ideological and artistic stature.
The works "Living forever with time" must reach the pinnacle of art, have profound humanity, have the ability to educate, orient aesthetics, reflect the country's innovation, industrialization, modernization and international integration, enrich the spiritual life of the people and be suitable for today's life.

Artists need to promote their responsibility as "cultural warriors" and contribute more to building, preserving and developing Vietnamese culture.
At the program, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism organized the Launch of the creation of literary and artistic works "Living forever with time" for the period 2026-2030.
