Bringing technology to life
For nearly 5 months now, Le Hanh Cafe, located in Area 1, Lai Hieu Ward, has implemented cashless payments for customers. Ms. Nguyen Thi Xuan, the owner of this shop, shared: “Every time I charge customers, I often introduce that we allow payment by scanning codes and transferring money. Although the amount of money for drinks is not much, up to now, about 40% of customers coming to the shop have paid by this method.”
Le Hanh Cafe is one of the first 24 businesses to participate in the "Cashless Payment Street" model built by Lai Hieu Ward People's Committee on Nguyen Trai Street, in Area 1. Launched on October 10, 2023, the model has been effective in gradually changing people's habits, from paying directly in cash to paying by QR code scanning and bank transfer. To date, the model has had over 45 businesses participating. In the near future, the Ward People's Committee will continue to replicate the model for more than 150 households along Nguyen Trai Street and businesses in the area.
“Cashless payment street” is also the name of the model built on Vu Dinh Lieu street, area VI, Nga Bay ward. Launched on October 18, 2023, to date, the model has had more than 20 businesses, mainly cafes, proactively equipped with QR-Code for customers to pay online. In addition, Nga Bay ward also has the “Market 4.0” model, which is being applied to 105 businesses at Nga Bay market.
Ms. Hoang Thanh Vi, Vice Chairman of Nga Bay Ward People's Committee, said: “As a central ward of the city, the demand for digital transformation in the locality is also quite high. When implementing digital transformation models and activities, people responded and participated enthusiastically. People's ability to access information technology for digital transformation has also gradually improved. In the coming time, we will continue to promote and mobilize people to actively apply digital transformation."
Forming smart cities
With the orientation of building a smart city, in recent years, Nga Bay city has actively promoted and implemented Decision No. 950/2018 of the Prime Minister approving the Project on sustainable smart urban development in Vietnam for the period 2018-2025 and orientation to 2030; Resolution No. 04/2021 of the Provincial Party Committee on industrial, agricultural, urban and tourism development of Hau Giang province, period 2021-2025 and the following years. Thereby, promoting digital transformation activities in the entire political system and people in the area.
On April 28, 2023, the Nga Bay Smart Urban Monitoring and Operation Center was launched and put into operation. By integrating and managing the fields of health,education , public administration, public lighting, electronic documents, social media listening, on-site reflection, surveillance cameras and socio-economics, the center has brought many benefits to the management work of local leaders. Simplify administrative procedures and create conditions for people to access the digital economy and digital society.
According to Mr. Bui Viet Ha, Permanent Vice Chairman of Nga Bay City People's Committee: "We will focus on solving major urban issues such as: traffic, environment, energy, waste treatment, security, order, etc. To achieve these goals, smart elements must be identified, calculated and included right from the planning stage of the city's urban development. Invest in more smart lighting routes and surveillance cameras. Announce land use plans and construction plans approved by competent authorities to the city's smart urban system so that people and organizations know. Continue to promote other areas to build Nga Bay city increasingly smart and modern".
With these orientations, Nga Bay city is expected to increasingly become a smart city of the province and region, contributing positively to the socio-economic development of the locality.
