According to the Department of Information and Communications of Ho Chi Minh City, the project includes two key items: "Building book streets and book spaces in Ho Chi Minh City to contribute to developing a reading culture for the people of the City" and "Equipping 5 million books for facilities" in Ho Chi Minh City. The projects aim to promote the development of an increasingly deep reading culture for the people of the City.

In particular, the project category "Building book streets and book spaces in Ho Chi Minh City to contribute to developing a reading culture for the city's people" will expand the book street system in Ho Chi Minh City in the East, West, South and North directions with 3 new book spaces and book streets including: Binh Tan District Book Space, Cu Chi District Book Space and Nguyen Dong Chi Book Street in District 7. These new book spaces in the West - South - North direction connect with Thu Duc City Book Street in the East and the center is Ho Chi Minh City Book Street, creating an "ecosystem". The project is expected to be put into operation from April 2025.

With the program "Equipping 5 million books for the grassroots", the Department of Information and Communications will mobilize social resources, striving to have 5 million books reach every citizen in Ho Chi Minh City by the end of 2025, including: libraries of primary schools, middle schools, high schools, continuingeducation schools and libraries of 21 districts in the area and Thu Duc City...

In addition, the Department of Information and Communications together with the Department of Education and Training plans to implement the program "50 smart libraries donated to city students" with the aim of creating space and conditions for students and teenagers to interact, promote thinking, skills, and creativity through activities of the space to experience modern scientific and technological equipment combined with forming reading habits for teenagers, while meeting the needs of facilities in the current period.

Along with the program to build a new book street, celebrate the 72nd anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Vietnamese Publishing, Printing and Book Distribution Industry (October 10, 1952 - October 10, 2024), respond to the National Digital Transformation Day October 10, Ho Chi Minh City will organize the Book and Digital Transformation Week, taking place from October 25 to October 31 at Ho Chi Minh City Book Street./.
