Pickup truck crashes into multiple cars while fleeing police

The pickup truck driven by Hoang crashed straight into the police.

According to the investigation, in the early morning of November 13, Hoang drove a red pickup truck on Le Loi Avenue, heading from the city center to the old Big C roundabout.

In Dong Huong ward, the traffic police saw signs of violations in Hoang's car so they ordered him to stop and check. Hoang did not comply, reversed the car on a one-way street, and tried to escape.

The pickup truck, while reversing, hit a motorbike, dragging it about 30 meters. Hoang then continued driving away towards Nguyen Tinh Street. Police and residents chased after him on motorbikes.

When he reached the area next to apartment building 379, Dong Huong ward, the road was too narrow to continue, so Hoang continuously drove forward and then reversed.

Immediately after that, Major Do Minh Khoi, an officer of the Traffic Police - Public Order Team of Thanh Hoa City Police, rode a motorbike (requisitioned from a local) to the back of Hoang's car and asked the driver to stop the vehicle. However, Hoang accelerated and reversed to escape.

The pickup truck hit Major Khoi's motorbike, pulled it under the chassis, and dragged it for dozens of meters. The major and the people were forced to jump to the side of the road to avoid injury.

During the escape, Hoang crashed into a total of 9 cars parked on the road, and two motorbikes were severely damaged.

After leaving Nguyen Tinh Street, Hoang drove the car at high speed around many other streets. When reaching Trinh Kiem Street, Dong Ve Ward, the car jumped onto the sidewalk and got stuck. The police rushed in and restrained Hoang.

The total distance Hoang ran was 5-6 km. The alcohol test results showed that the driver had 0.77 mg/liter of breath.

Hoang confessed that he had previously drunk "5-6 bottles of beer with the team, continued to sing karaoke after the match ended", and on the way back caused the incident.
