Oil tanker leaks, leaving oil trail over 1km on Highway 1

On August 4, Ninh Hoa Traffic Police Station (Traffic Police Department of Khanh Hoa Provincial Police) said it is coordinating with relevant units to clarify the cause and determine the responsibility of the transport unit in the oil tanker leak on National Highway 1, through Dai Lanh commune, Van Ninh district.

According to initial information, at around 3:30 a.m. the same day, Ninh Hoa Traffic Police Station received a report that an oil tanker suddenly leaked, leaving an oil slick more than 1km long and about 2m wide on National Highway 1, in the North-South direction.

The tanker truck with HCMC license plate, driven by driver NNA (50 years old, residing in HCMC), was transporting liquid oil used in asphalt production.

Immediately after the incident, Ninh Hoa Traffic Police Station coordinated with Dai Lanh Commune Police, Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department, and Road Management Department III to deploy emergency measures to ensure traffic safety. The authorities issued warnings, diverted traffic, regulated traffic, spread sand, and cleared the road surface to avoid the risk of slipping and accidents.

The cause of the incident is currently under investigation.
