On the morning of August 4, VinFast officially inaugurated the electric vehicle (EV) assembly plant at SIPCOT Industrial Park in Thoothukudi city, Tamil Nadu state, India.

The inauguration ceremony took place just over a year after the groundbreaking ceremony, marking a new step in the company's global expansion journey.

The event also affirms VinFast's long-term and serious commitment to the world's third largest automobile market, and demonstrates VinFast's belief in India's strategic role in the future of the global electric vehicle industry.

VinFast Tamil Nadu is the third factory to officially come into operation and also the fifth project in VinFast's global factory chain. This is also the first facility to be inaugurated outside of Vietnam, demonstrating the global expansion vision and large-scale project implementation capacity of a Vietnamese brand.

Attending the inauguration ceremony were Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, VinFast Asia General Director Pham Sanh Chau, VinFast's partners in India, hundreds of Vietnamese and Indian guests, and dozens of reporters from both countries.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Pham Sanh Chau emphasized: “The VinFast Tamil Nadu factory is a strategic milestone affirming our long-term commitment to the Indian market, while laying a solid foundation for our sustainable growth. This facility will help VinFast bring high-quality electric vehicles to Indian consumers at competitive prices."

According to Mr. Pham Sanh Chau, in the coming time, the factory will continue to expand its capacity to meet increasing demand and aims to develop into VinFast's largest export center for the South Asia, Middle East and Africa regions.

“In fact, we have received initial orders from many countries in these regions. In close cooperation with the Tamil Nadu government, VinFast is striving to turn this place into the ‘electric vehicle capital of South Asia’, serving both the dynamic domestic market and the regional expansion strategy,” he said.

VinFast is not only focusing on automobiles but also investing in renewable energy, healthcare and biotechnology. We welcome such diverse investments. I am really happy that VinFast is joining us in this transformation journey.”

The factory has a total area of 160 hectares, invested in international standard production lines with high level of automation and modern technology.

The complex includes several workshops such as a body welding workshop, a paint shop, an assembly workshop, a quality control center, and a logistics warehouse. The project also plans to build a cluster of supporting factories for local contractors, with plans to expand in the coming years.

When operating at full capacity, the factory is expected to create direct jobs for 3,000-3,500 local workers, along with thousands of indirect jobs in the supply ecosystem, contributing to promoting socio -economic development in Tamil Nadu state, making this region a manufacturing hub of India.
