Preview of Mercedes-AMG's 1,000+ horsepower electric super SUV

In early 2025, the Mercedes-AMG brand released a teaser image of a new pure electric super SUV that they are developing.

The model is expected to be called the Mercedes-AMG GT electric SUV . It is planned to be launched in 2026 and will use AMG's dedicated AMG.EA chassis. Unlike other SUVs in the AMG lineup, the car will be developed from start to finish by AMG, instead of just modifying the original Mercedes-Benz.

To help users visualize the car more clearly, Kolesa.ru recently released graphic renderings of the AMG super SUV. Based on the shared images, it can be seen that the design of the new Mercedes-AMG GT SUV 2026 is inspired by the Mercedes Vision AMG Concept introduced in 2022.

Because it is an electric car, the car will have a large fake grille, along with headlights with 3-pointed star graphics. Meanwhile, the rear of the car stands out with large taillights that hug the tailgate. The German car company once revealed that the Mercedes-AMG GT SUV will have an expected overall length of about 5.1 m, in which the wheelbase between the 2 axles is more than 3 m.

With this size, the super SUV will be in the same large segment as the previous GLS/EQS. In terms of interior, the cabin of the Mercedes-AMG GT SUV can be referenced from the existing EQS frame or can also choose the Maybach GLS.

The AMG super SUV's powertrain is expected to be a 4-motor, 4-wheel drive system with a total output of more than 1,000 horsepower. Having a motor on each wheel provides advanced independent traction control and 4-wheel steering. In addition, the car also has a suspension system, an exclusive AMG battery and an 800V charging system.

According to the plan, the Mercedes-AMG GT electric super SUV will be launched in 2026 and can be on sale from mid-2027. The car will compete with rivals such as: Aston Martin DBX, Porsche Cayenne GT, BMW XM, Lamborghini Urus, Lotus Eletre. Therefore, the selling price of this super SUV is certainly not cheap, it can even be much higher than the Maybach GLS in the same size segment.
