According to the case file, at around 9:00 p.m. on March 21, 2021, Nguyen Do Quoc Hung's group (born in 2004) went out to play in Area K1, Thanh Son Ward (Phan Rang - Thap Cham City) and saw Phan Tuan Thuan's group (born in 2003, residing in Phuoc My Ward) sitting on the sidewalk, someone pointed at Hung's group. Believing that Thuan's group intended to provoke a fight, Hung told his friends to turn around. Hung got out of the car, picked up a piece of wood and chased them, Thuan ran away, Hung threw the piece of wood back and left with his friends. A while later, Hung went back to Area K1 and saw Thuan's group fighting with some of Hung's friends in a drinking place. After that, both groups invited more friends to prepare many dangerous homemade weapons and made an appointment to go to the Dinh River dike (in Phu Ha Ward) to resolve the conflict.

At around 11pm the same day, Hung's group arrived first. When Thuan's group just arrived, Hung, Khang, Huy and their accomplices chased and beat them. Thuan's group ran away. Hung held a broken stick with two sharp metal forks and stabbed Le Van Bao (born in 2001) in the left arm, while Huy held a knife and slashed Bao, causing him to fall to the ground. After that, Hung's group threw away the weapon and left. Bao was taken to the emergency room by local people, with a 19% injury rate.
The jury determined that the defendants’ actions were dangerous to society, demonstrating hooliganism and disregard for the law. Nguyen Do Quoc Hung was the mastermind, luring and enticing many minors to participate in the crime. Tran Khang Huy was the active perpetrator who directly used dangerous weapons to cause serious injuries to Le Van Bao. The remaining defendants were accomplices.
Based on the evidence, testimony, and details of the case, the Trial Panel sentenced 11 defendants for the crime of "Murder" according to the provisions of Clause 1, Article 123 of the 2015 Penal Code, amended and supplemented in 2017. Of which, Nguyen Do Quoc Hung was sentenced to 7 years in prison, Tran Khang Huy (born 2006) to 6 years in prison, Tran Van Vu (born 2001) to 4 years in prison; Nguyen Trung Le, Nguyen Hoang Ho, Le Truong Tan Gioi (all born 2004) to 3 years in prison; Ho Quang Thinh (born 2006), Nguyen Van Tien (born 2005) to 2 years in prison; Phan Huynh Bao (born 2003), Nguyen Lam Bao Khoa (born 2003) and Huynh Quoc Hung (born 2006) were sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison.
