Despite the hustle and bustle of life, for the parishioners, Christmas is the most sacred holiday of the year, a time for each family to set aside their daily worries, dedicate time to decorating their living space, and celebrate the birth of Jesus.
These days, Mr. Nguyen Cong An's family and 18 other households in the same neighborhood, belonging to residential group 3, Cu Bao ward, are pooling their money and labor to decorate nativity scenes and install lights along the road to welcome Christmas 2025. All preparations are complete, ready for a reunion dinner on Christmas Eve. Mr. An said that all the residents in the neighborhood are Catholic, so no matter how busy they are, they try their best to prepare thoroughly to celebrate the birth of Christ. In recent years, the high prices of coffee and durian have improved the lives of the households, and the people are excitedly welcoming Christmas with a joyful spirit, wishing for a peaceful and prosperous new year.
These days, nearly 60 students of the Ban Xuan Independent Kindergarten in residential area 3, Cu Bao ward, are practicing cheerful and lively songs to welcome Christmas 2025. Most of the students are children from Catholic families, so the teachers focus on organizing meaningful Christmas celebrations such as making Christmas greeting cards, giving gifts to underprivileged students, a cultural program, guiding the children to send wishes to their parents, helping their families decorate Christmas trees and nativity scenes… Through these activities, the children are educated about etiquette, love, care, and sharing.

Residential area 4 in Cu Bao ward has 380 households, mostly Catholic, so the atmosphere celebrating Christmas is lively and joyful. In front of the house of Ms. Dau Thi Thanh Truc, Secretary of the Party Branch of residential area 4, the Christmas tree and nativity scene are elaborately and attractively decorated. Ms. Truc said that Christmas is an important holiday for Catholics, and the people are very excited, decorating their houses and streets to celebrate with the hope of a peaceful and happy new year. This is also an opportunity for families to reunite, relatives to invite each other to intimate meals, share about their work in the past year and future plans to strive and work together.
The Christmas spirit is not only vibrant in the homes of parishioners, but in parishes, churches, and congregations, preparations begin even earlier and are more elaborate.
At Vinh Quang Parish in Cu Bao Ward, home to over 8,000 parishioners, Christmas preparations are being carried out systematically. Mr. Nguyen Phuong, Vice Chairman of External Affairs of the Vinh Quang Parish Council, stated that each year, various departments within the parish take turns decorating the grounds for parishioners of all faiths to come and pray, visit, and enjoy themselves. During these days, the parish calls on parishioners to contribute funds to help those in difficult circumstances, award prizes to high-achieving students, give gifts to poor students, and, notably, this year mobilized parishioners to help those affected by floods. This is a practical activity demonstrating the spirit of sharing and charity among the Catholic community.
Not only in Vinh Quang Parish, but also in parishes belonging to the Ban Me Thuot Diocese, preparing for Christmas not only reflects the faith life of the religious community but also contributes to enriching the cultural and spiritual life of the community. This is also an opportunity for everyone to focus on beautiful spiritual values and spread love.
Bishop John Baptist Nguyen Huy Bac of the Buon Ma Thuot Diocese said that the diocese has 20 parishes with more than 500,000 parishioners. The parishioners of these parishes and communities fulfill their religious and secular duties, actively participating in economic development, building cultural life, and maintaining security and order in the area. This Christmas season, the Buon Ma Thuot Diocese also conveys the message of celebrating a warm Christmas while not forgetting the spirit of sharing, charity, and community focus.
