Handling 2 blockbuster bombs left over from the war

On the evening of September 18, the engineering force of the Capital Command, together with officers and soldiers of the Defense Cluster of Region 4 - Gia Lam and the Military Command of Bo De Ward, salvaged and disposed of two bombs left over from the war.

According to authorities, the two bombs discovered were M-118 demolition bombs, weighing more than 1.3 tons, containing more than 800 kg of TNT explosives. When discovered, the two bombs still had fuses and were assessed as highly dangerous.

Previously, two bombs were discovered by fishermen at around 3:00 p.m. on September 15 near the middle of the Red River, about 30 meters upstream from Long Bien Bridge.

Proceed to move and transport 2 bombs to the disposal site.

Immediately after receiving the news, the Defense Command of Region 4 - Gia Lam mobilized forces, coordinated with the Military Command of Bo De ward to move the two bombs to a safe location, organized close guard and reported to superiors to agree on handling measures.

According to plan, 2 bombs will be moved and detonated at Cam Son Shooting Range ( Bac Ninh ).
