Dealing with two unexploded bombs left over from the war.

On the evening of September 18th, engineering troops from the Hanoi Capital Command, along with officers and soldiers from the Area 4 Defense Cluster - Gia Lam, and the Military Command of Bo De Ward, carried out the retrieval and disposal of two unexploded bombs remaining from the war.

According to authorities, the two bombs discovered were M-118 demolition bombs, weighing over 1.3 tons and containing approximately 800 kg of TNT explosive. When discovered, both bombs still had their fuses intact and were assessed as highly dangerous.

Authorities measured the size of the two bombs.

Earlier, at around 3 PM on September 15th, two bombs were discovered by local fishermen near a sandbar in the Red River, about 30 meters upstream from Long Bien Bridge.

The two bombs were removed and transported to the disposal site.

Immediately after receiving the report, the Command of Defense Zone 4 - Gia Lam mobilized forces, coordinated with the Military Command of Bo De Ward to move the two bombs to a safe location, organized strict guarding, and reported to higher authorities to agree on handling measures.

According to the plan, the two bombs will be moved and detonated at the Cam Son Shooting Range ( Bac Ninh ).
