Safely handling hundreds of explosives found in Khe Sanh commune

On the morning of July 16, information from the PeaceTrees Vietnam Project in Quang Tri said that the unit's EOD1 Mobile Bomb and Mine Disposal Team had just safely handled a large amount of explosives discovered in people's gardens in Khe Sanh commune.

Previously, on June 30, the family of Mr. Tran Van Phu, residing in Block 4, Khe Sanh Commune (Quang Tri Province), discovered many objects suspected to be bombs and mines while digging holes to plant trees in their garden. Through the hotline of the Quang Tri Province Mine Action Center (QTMAC), Mr. Phu contacted for support.

Immediately after receiving the report, the EOD1 Mobile Bomb Disposal Team of the PeaceTrees VietNam Quang Tri Project arrived at the scene. Through information collection, delineation of the safe area and implementation of steps, the unit determined that the above area contained a total of 361 unexploded 7.62mm bullets and 8 M33 grenades with broken fuses. These are explosive materials that are still capable of causing high damage but are qualified for safe transportation.

The EOD1 Mobile Bomb Disposal Team collected and moved all of the above explosives to the warehouse for processing and destruction according to technical procedures.
