This afternoon, January 4, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Duc Tien, Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for Anti-smuggling, Trade Fraud, and Counterfeit Goods (Steering Committee 389/DP) chaired a meeting to review the work of anti-smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods in 2023 and deploy tasks for 2024.

In 2023, departments, branches, functional forces and localities have actively followed the area, promptly grasped the laws, methods and tricks of smuggling and trade fraud both on the border and inland to arrange forces and means to effectively fight. Initially, large-scale gathering places and warehouses have been handled. Specifically, functional forces have detected, arrested and handled 2,073 cases of trading and transporting prohibited goods, smuggled goods, trade fraud and counterfeit goods. Administrative violations were sanctioned in 1,648 cases, with the amount of money collected to the budget being 61.5 billion VND; an increase of 12.8% in the number of cases and 5.9% in the amount compared to 2022. Prosecuted 293 cases with 456 subjects.

The inspection and specialized examination work of departments and branches on fertilizers, pesticides; gasoline; food safety; standards, measurements, product quality... continues to be strengthened, contributing to a healthy market, creating conditions for production and business activities to develop.
Regarding the direction and tasks for 2024, Steering Committee 389/DP continues to direct functional forces to focus on fighting and handling ringleaders, large-scale or high-value warehouses, main transportation routes, e-commerce methods and focusing on items such as: drugs, fireworks, sugar, explosives, cigarettes, alcohol - beer - soft drinks, wildlife, gold and foreign currency, animals and animal products, electronic goods... Direct departments and branches to strengthen coordination with functional forces in providing information, fighting, arresting, and handling violations in smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods; promote information dissemination, providing information, denouncing crimes...
Speaking at the direction, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Duc Tien emphasized that in the coming time, the situation of smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in the province is expected to have complicated developments. Therefore, it is required that departments, branches, functional forces and localities continue to step up the fight, arrest and handle violations in smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods activities, first of all, Plan No. 241/KH-BCĐ on the peak of anti-smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods before, during and after the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin. Regularly grasp the domestic and foreign market situation, information and instructions from the central government, developments on the Vietnam - Laos border to promptly advise and direct the work of anti-smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods more effectively.
Review, amend and supplement regulations that are inadequate and not suitable to reality. Strictly implement the regulations on coordination of activities between state management agencies in the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods to ensure consistency and strictness. Build a database system for handling administrative violations to facilitate the search for violators.
Strengthen inspection of passenger and cargo transportation activities, especially by VAN trucks. Strengthen tax management; detect and strictly handle smuggling and tax fraud; closely monitor e-commerce activities; manage and inspect the issuance and use of electronic invoices to avoid tax losses.
