A destination for experiences
The 2026 video clip competition promoting tourism in Thai Nguyen province, themed "Thai Nguyen Tourism - A Destination for Experiences," has offered many new ways to introduce tourism in the tea-producing region. Taking place over nearly two months, the competition received more than 320 entries. Of these, 176 videos met the criteria and were selected for publication on the Thai Nguyen Provincial Electronic Information Portal Fanpage.
Anyone who pays attention to and regularly watches videos posted on social media will easily see that this competition is an exciting playground for young people. According to statistics from the Organizing Committee, approximately 70-80% of the authors participating in the competition are youth union members, students from universities, colleges, high schools, middle schools, and elementary schools in the province.
Among the more than 300 entries, many videos chose to reintroduce familiar destinations but in a fresh way. There were also entries that took viewers to places previously rarely mentioned or only briefly featured in a few promotional images.
The video "Northern Thai Nguyen - A Gentle Harmony Between Nature and People" by author Do Trung Tin is a prime example. In Tin's video, which won second prize, Thai Nguyen is not limited to familiar images of tea plantations or Nui Coc Lake. Viewers are taken through Ba Be Lake, Slam Chiem grassland, Don Den sea of clouds, highland roads, and cultural spaces that still retain many pristine features.
The gentle narrative style and well-paced transitions in imagery make viewers feel as if they are accompanying the author on a journey of discovery. Some locations require waiting for the right moment to capture beautiful scenery. For example, the Lighthouse requires leaving early in the morning to photograph the clouds. Some locations are very far apart, making travel and scheduling quite challenging.
The desire to promote unique scenic beauty also appears in many other works. A familiar tea-growing region like Tien Yen, through the perspective of Tran Dao Mai Anh, a student at the University of Foreign Languages, Thai Nguyen University, is told in a very engaging way.
The video, titled "Traveling Through Time in Tien Yen Tea Region," follows the character as they experience picking tea leaves, processing tea, and cycling through the lush green tea hills. Without excessive introductions, the story is told through a sense of discovery, a style appealing to today's youth.
In a different approach, the group of students from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy chose to tell the story of Thai Hai Community Tourism Village through a more innocent and pure narrative. The video "Thai Hai - Where Time Slows Down" doesn't focus on showcasing many locations or activities, but instead dedicates quiet moments to the living space, traditional houses, daily life, and the peaceful feeling of a village.
Local cuisine has also been a focus of many authors. In Van Lang commune, author Trieu Ha Mai chose handmade pressed rice noodles to tell the story of the local people's lives. Images of noodle making, the hearth, the stilt houses, and the slow pace of life give viewers a clearer picture of the lifestyle in a mountainous rural area.
Each person tells a story.

Not all videos were technically polished or had excellent storytelling, but the diversity of perspectives was evident in this competition. Some explored nature, others focused on culture and cuisine, while some chose to share personal experiences. The common thread was that, instead of simply listing travel destinations, many participants opted to tell stories based on what they saw, experienced, and remembered from their trips.
The impact of the competition therefore extends beyond a mere creative playground. According to statistics from the Organizing Committee, the submitted videos generated a significant impact on social media, reaching tens of millions of views, nearly 10 million views, and almost one million interactions, shares, and comments. Many videos were re-shared on personal platforms, reaching additional viewers in numerous provinces and cities.
Mr. Do Trung Tin shared: "Tourism promotion will be more effective when it's not solely the responsibility of specialized agencies, but also involves many individuals. Each person tells a story, records a beautiful aspect of their homeland, gradually creating a vast archive of information for long-term use."
The competition has ended, but the videos continue to be shared and appear on viewers' phone screens in many places. From a tea plantation, a sea of clouds at the mountaintop, or the food of a small village, Thai Nguyen tourism is being told through more intimate, everyday perspectives, from the very people who live there.
