Promoting tourism in the new trend: Building smart, unique, and experience-rich destinations

Entering the final year of realizing the goal of turning Bac Lieu into one of the region's tourism centers, tourism promotion (XTDL) is determined to play a very important role, being the leading step in connecting destinations with tourists and investors. Therefore, the Provincial Tourism Promotion Center has actively innovated communication forms, combining traditional spaces with digital environments to aim at building smart, unique, and experience-rich destinations.

FINDING OPPORTUNITIES FROM INTERNATIONAL MARKETS

In the context of fierce competition in the domestic and foreign tourist markets, Bac Lieu tourism has taken active steps to seek development opportunities. Right from the beginning of 2025, the Provincial Tourism Promotion Center has planned to approach and exploit large markets, and the series of international tourism promotion events is the "launching pad" to bring the image of Bac Lieu far and wide.

In terms of scale and prestige, the Ho Chi Minh City International Tourism Fair and the Vietnam International Tourism Fair VITM Hanoi are large-scale tourism trade events that attract hundreds of international tourism organizations, travel agencies, accommodation establishments, airlines and transport units nationwide. Regularly participating in these events, Bac Lieu tourism has been exposed to new products and development models in a sustainable direction, with vivid experiences that are becoming a trend. In addition, participating in forums and seminars within the framework of the fair also helps the provincial tourism promotion agency grasp changes in future market tastes to proactively find ways to exploit them. In particular, meeting and finding strategic business partners to provide customers with attractive products, gradually meeting the needs of high-spending international tourists.

Not only focusing on exploiting international events, since the beginning of the year, the Provincial Tourism Promotion Center has also taken the opportunity to participate in domestic tourism activities such as: Tourism Space, Cultural Heritage and Vietnam's scenic spots within the framework of the National Tourism Year - Hue; Southern Traditional Cake Festival - Can Tho City... With the determination to promote the image and contribute to the whole country to stimulate domestic tourism, the Center has actively promoted typical tourism products, newly formed products, incentive programs through images, guidebooks, tourist maps, stylized brochures and especially local specialties recognized as meeting OCOP standards...

APPLYING TECHNOLOGY TO PROMOTION

The explosion of information technology has created many opportunities and challenges for the tourism industry nationwide, in which tourism promotion is identified as a pioneer in capturing trends. Currently, tourism tastes increasingly focus on experiencing technology to bring visitors vivid and attractive images that traditional methods cannot do.

Recently, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Bac Lieu and the Department of Tourism of Ho Chi Minh City have coordinated to build smart interactive tourism map data at typical tourist destinations of the province such as: Southern amateur music and musician Cao Van Lau Memorial Site, Xiem Can Pagoda, Hoa Binh 1 Wind Power Tourism Area, Quan Am Phat Dai Area and Bac Lieu Prince's House Area. Using specialized equipment, the images will be displayed in 3D, with 360 0 rotation angles and brought to a virtual reality environment, fully integrating information forms introducing the destination such as: audio, text, VR clips... helping visitors explore tourist destinations with multi-dimensional, vivid perspectives.

According to the representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, the construction of smart tourism map data in Bac Lieu is an activity to concretize the cooperation program to develop tourism between Ho Chi Minh City and 13 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta. The construction of data for typical tourist destinations of the province will create unique experiences for visitors through images, 3D and 360 0 displays with a realistic feeling; through the form of virtual reality tourism with VR glasses through 3D/360 0 images and videos with the feeling of directly visiting the destination.

In the context of limited budget for digital transformation of tourism, the Provincial People's Committee has allocated resources to invest in the Bac Lieu Provincial Museum with the focus on applications that enhance interaction with visitors. Artifacts and documents have been digitized to provide visitors with 3D, 4D images, multi-dimensional and close-up perspectives on the history and culture of Bac Lieu.

With many efforts and diverse forms, the province's tourism promotion work has achieved remarkable results, especially the creation of a lively promotion space at the Provincial Museum. In particular, the application of modern promotion support tools has contributed to helping the functional sector reach tourists from afar, contributing to spreading the image of Bac Lieu tourism to international markets.
