Yen Bai: Only 5 schools and 1 school location left, students have not returned to school

On September 16, in Yen Bai province, 436/442 educational institutions allowed students to return to school, leaving only 5 schools and 1 school location where students could not go to school.

These include the preschool level of Viet Thanh Primary and Secondary School, Tran Yen District; Hong Thai Primary School, Yen Ninh Primary School, Yen Bai City; Minh Chuan Primary and Secondary School, Luc Yen District; Nga Quan Primary and Secondary School, Tran Yen District and Ly Thuong Kiet High School, Yen Bai City. These facilities are expected to allow students to return to school from September 18. Vice Chairwoman of Yen Bai Provincial People's Committee Vu Thi Hien Hanh said: Immediately after the flood receded, the whole province mobilized maximum support forces to overcome the consequences of natural disasters, includingeducational facilities. Up to this point, the flooded schools have been basically cleaned up. Currently, there are still a few schools in Yen Bai City facing many difficulties in cleaning and sanitation due to power outages, lack of water sources, and specialized equipment. Schools with landslides, subsidence of structures, and landslides of fences have not been repaired. Currently, the schools have reported to the authorities and management levels for assessment and solution.
According to the report of the Department of Education and Training of Yen Bai province, storm No. 3 caused heavy rain, flooding, landslides, greatly affecting educational facilities, families of officials, teachers and students of the province. Of these, 2 teachers and 8 students died, 2 students were injured due to storms and rain, 28 educational facilities were flooded, 37 educational facilities suffered landslides. In addition, some schools and school sites suffered landslides with small volumes, the schools proactively mobilized officials, teachers, staff and students to overcome the damage. The initial damage to facilities, teaching and learning equipment, and books was estimated at about 45 billion VND. The number of students who lost or damaged textbooks and learning materials was estimated at about 22,787. The estimated cost was about 11.5 billion VND.
