Sharing the difficulties with the poor.
From very early in the morning, a large number of people from Kien Thiet commune (Yen Son district) gathered at the commune's health station to receive free medical examinations. Doctors and nurses from Hung Vuong Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City quickly welcomed, advised, examined, prescribed medication, and dispensed medicine.
The people of Kien Thiet commune, Yen Son district, were guided on how to use the oral medication by the Provincial Red Cross Society, the Provincial Military Command, and various sponsors.
Dr. Pham Quoc Hung, a specialist in internal medicine and Chairman of the Red Cross Society of Hung Vuong Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, shared: “Tuyen Quang is a familiar place and a place where we fulfill our promise of ‘reaching out with love’ to the people here. Many years ago, when floods and the Covid-19 pandemic broke out and Ho Chi Minh City was struggling to fight the epidemic, we received support and sharing from the leaders and people of Tuyen Quang province. To repay the kindness of the people of Tuyen Quang, I and the doctors and nurses of the hospital established a volunteer medical team, sharing a spirit of volunteerism to participate in medical examinations and treatment for the poor, near-poor, and disadvantaged people in remote and medically difficult areas. Since its establishment, the team has organized many medical examination and treatment programs for the poor people of the province, each time in a different district.”
In Kien Thiet commune, the medical team provided medical examinations and distributed over 300 units of medicine to more than 300 people, with a total value of nearly 160 million VND. Mr. La Van Binh, over 70 years old, a disabled veteran of category 3, from Lang Ap village, Kien Thiet commune, expressed: “My family is in difficult circumstances, and I am old. I am very happy that the medical team came to the area to provide free medical examinations and treatment. After the examination, the doctors and nurses carefully advised me on how to use each type of medicine. I hope that in the future the team will continue to come to the area and take care of the health of the people here even more.”
Comrade Phu Duc Lam, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hong Quang commune (Lam Binh district), said: "The program of free medical examinations and medicine distribution, coordinated by the Provincial Military Command and the Provincial Red Cross Society for the people of ethnic minorities in the commune, is a very practical and meaningful act, demonstrating solidarity and close ties between the military and the people, contributing to the effective implementation of healthcare for the people and the effective implementation of social welfare policies in the locality."
Journey of Compassion
Colonel Nguyen Thanh An, Deputy Political Commissar of the Provincial Military Command, said: “This is the 8th year that the Provincial Military Command and the Provincial Red Cross Society have organized a free medical examination and treatment program for people in remote areas, demonstrating the principle of 'drinking water, remembering the source,' and the affection and responsibility of the army towards policy beneficiary families and ethnic minorities.”
Over the past 8 years, the Provincial Military Command and the Provincial Red Cross Society have organized humanitarian medical examination, healthcare, and free medicine distribution programs for the people, benefiting over 12,000 individuals, distributing over 12,000 units of medicine, and giving over 12,000 gifts, with a total value of nearly 4.1 billion VND.
According to Comrade Nguyen Hoang Long, Chairman of the Provincial Red Cross Society, with the aim of joining hands with the community to care for the health of the people, especially vulnerable people, people affected by natural disasters, those in areas with limited access to medical services, victims of traffic accidents and other disasters, the free medical examination, health consultation, and medicine distribution programs are always accompanied and assisted by doctors and nurses from Hung Vuong Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, the Vietnamese Heart Foundation - Vietnam Television, the Tuyen Quang Hometown Association in the South, Phuong Bac General Hospital, Eye TEC Eye Clinic in Tuyen Quang... For those in difficult circumstances, these small medicines and gifts are of great significance.
