Thailand has countless beautiful beaches, promising to bring you a meaningful summer trip.
1. Koh Yao Islands
Despite their proximity to bustling Phuket (just a 30-minute speedboat ride away), the twin islands of Koh Yao Yai and Koh Yao Noi are very different. Both islands are sprawling with rubber plantations and rice paddies, crisscrossed by dirt roads and a few paved ones.
You can rent a scooter and spend the day exploring The Rest Calm mangrove forest in Pradu village.
2. Koh Samui
Koh Samui used to be a backpacker hotspot but is now gentrified with world- class luxury resorts. Many people choose this place as their honeymoon destination.
Koh Samui may also be the best yoga and spa destination in the world. Kamalaya is a popular spa, located high in the rainforest. Yoga retreats are also often held here.
3. Koh Tao
Koh Tao’s coastline is dotted with sandy coves, cute lantern-lit restaurants and dive shops. The island is one of the world’s top places to learn to dive, and it’s relatively cheap.
Koh Tao has an irresistible charm, exciting nightlife, especially parties on full moon nights.
4. Koh Phangan
If you want the perfect holiday that includes a 3-day beach party, Koh Pha Ngan is the island for you. This is a party island. During peak season, it can host up to 20,000 dancing guests.
Don't forget to try a Thai massage here after a night of partying.
5. Phuket
SHAPE \* MERGEFORMAT Phuket is the largest and most bustling island in Thailand. This place has many world-class entertainment areas, impressive restaurants and fashion stores. Many prime locations here are built into international resorts, so you can rest assured to enjoy your relaxing time here.
6. Koh Lanta
Of all the islands in Thailand, Koh Lanta is one of the most comprehensive. Less than an hour by boat from Krabi, Koh Lanta is made up of a number of small islands, the most visited of which is Koh Lanta Yai.
This place has nature reserves and beautiful beaches, attracting many middle-aged tourists and families with young children.
7. Koh Lipe
Koh Lipe is one of 51 islands that make up the Tarutao Marine Park, located in the south near the Malaysian border. It is less touristy than Phuket but still has many beautiful beaches and luxury hotels.
The island is small enough to explore on foot, perhaps with a loved one. Pattaya is the busiest beach and home to most of the island’s nightlife, while Sunset Beach is the quietest and most secluded.
8. Koh Chang
Koh Chang isn’t exactly pristine, but much of its interior is national park, perfect for jungle trekking. You can easily reach the smaller, more remote islands of the archipelago from here.
This place is also popular with people who want to go to Siem Reap after a week in Thailand.
9. Koh Phi Phi
If you are holidaying alone or with single friends, Koh Phi Phi might be the island for you. In recent years, it has been almost completely rebuilt after experiencing a tsunami.
This place has a lot of fun activities so it is suitable for young people. During the day you can spend time sunbathing, swimming in the sea, and at night you can walk around, shop, watch dancers juggle with fire…
10. Koh Si Chang
If you’re only in Thailand for a few days, getting from Bangkok to the outlying islands can be difficult. Instead, spend a day or two on Koh Si Chang, a two-hour boat ride from the city. It’s popular with Bangkok residents for weekend getaways and even day trips.
While Koh Si Chang doesn't have the softest white sand of all the Thai islands, it's still a great getaway from the bustling, polluted streets of the capital.
