10 outstanding young scientists won the Golden Globe award in 2023

On the afternoon of September 28, the Central Youth Union announced the top 10 young scientists who won the 'Golden Globe' science and technology award.

After more than 4 months of launching, the organizing committee received 69 nominations from 38 agencies, units, universities, research institutes, enterprises nationwide and the Vietnamese Embassy, ​​Vietnamese Youth and Student Associations abroad.

This year, the quality of the registration documents is good and there are many outstanding achievements. Among them, many individuals have patents, useful solutions, many high-quality international publications in the Q1 category, many domestic and international awards and medals .

After the preliminary results were announced, on August 30, the award council held its first meeting, carefully reviewed each application, discussed and evaluated each individual by field, and voted to select the 18 best candidates to be widely announced in the media.

On September 19, the council held its second meeting to discuss, vote and unanimously propose outstanding individuals.

Based on the regulations and proposals of the award council, the Central Secretariat of the Youth Union has decided to award the 2023 Golden Globe Science and Technology Award to the 10 most outstanding young talents.

Top 10 young scientists winning Golden Globe awards:

1. Dr. Trinh Van Chien, 34 years old, lecturer, head of the laboratory of computer networks and new generation communication technology, School of Information and Communication Technology, Hanoi University of Science and Technology , with research examining the integration of ultra-multi-antenna technology in non-cellular networks and smart reflecting surfaces under the influence of spatial correlation between scattering elements.

2. Dr. Pham Huy Hieu, 31 years old, lecturer at the Institute of Computer Science and Engineering, deputy director of the VinUni-Illinois Smart Health Research Center, VinUni University, with the research "VAIPE system to monitor and support smart health care for Vietnamese people".

3. Dr. Nguyen Trong Nghia, 33 years old, lecturer at the University of Adelaide, South Australia, researched and developed a type of antenna that can be simultaneously reconfigured with different parameters, which can be widely applied in many types of multi-functional antennas that need to flexibly adjust frequency and polarization.

4. Dr. Ngo Quoc Duy, 34 years old, deputy head of the head and neck surgery department, K Hospital, researched and developed the technique of endoscopic thyroidectomy through the oral vestibule through the application of the technique in lateral neck lymph node dissection to treat thyroid cancer.

5. Dr. Ha Thi Thanh Huong, 34 years old, head of the department of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, faculty of biomedical engineering, International University, Ho Chi Minh City National University - researched the Brain Analytics software, analyzing MRI images of the patient's brain and diagnosing Alzheimer's disease accurately, automatically, quickly, trained and tested on the ADNI database (USA) with an accuracy of about 96%.

6. Dr. Trinh Hoang Kim Tu, 35 years old, researcher at the Center for Molecular Biomedicine, University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City, with the research "Survey of cell techniques in diagnosing seafood allergies".

This study aims to isolate and produce suitable allergens specific to Vietnamese patients and develop in vitro testing techniques to increase the accuracy in diagnosing and predicting food allergies and the risk of patients reacting to each type of food consumed.

7. Dr. Le Dinh Anh, 34 years old, lecturer at the Institute of Aerospace Technology, University of Technology, Vietnam National University, Hanoi , with research on improved blade profiles to increase torque and aerodynamic power for Savonius wind turbines by 5.5% at low wind speeds and up to 185% at high speed ranges of ~1.5.

8. Dr. Ngo Ngoc Hai, 32 years old, researcher at the Institute of Genome Research, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, with research assessing the impact of climate change on animals in general and reptiles in particular, based on predictive algorithm models.

9. MSc. Nguyen Ho Thuy Linh, 33 years old, head of the biochemical and environmental materials research group, Center for Research on Nanostructured and Molecular Materials, Ho Chi Minh City National University, with a significant research project in the field of new materials science when studying the catalytic ability of Zr and Hf-MOF in the synthesis reaction of 2-arylbenzoxazole.

10. Associate Professor, Dr. Huynh Trong Phuoc, 35 years old, senior lecturer of the Department of Construction Engineering, University of Technology, Can Tho University, with research on solutions to effectively utilize large amounts of sludge from water treatment plants and thermal power fly ash to produce controlled low-strength materials (CLSM), with the orientation of application in land leveling to replace the currently scarce source of sand for leveling.

The Golden Globe Award aims to discover and honor young Vietnamese talents (not older than 35 years old as of the year of award consideration) who are studying, researching and working at home or abroad.

The selected faces have outstanding achievements in five fields: information technology, digital transformation and automation; medical and pharmaceutical technology; biotechnology; environmental technology and new materials technology.
