17 players at risk of leaving Man City

Man City are set to undergo a major overhaul as Pep Guardiola has vowed to make a drastic change to streamline the squad.

There are currently 17 players at risk of being forced to leave the Etihad in this summer transfer window. Among those who are certain to leave the team, Jack Grealish, Kyle Walker, Kalvin Phillips, James McAtee and Maximo Perrone are looking for new destinations.

In the "possible departures" group, the futures of Ederson, John Stones, Rico Lewis, Vitor Reis, Abdukodir Khusanov, Nico O'Reilly, Mateo Kovacic, Ilkay Gundogan, Nico Gonzalez, Matheus Nunes, Claudio Echeverri and Oscar Bobb are still uncertain. According to British media, Guardiola does not want to continue maintaining an overly crowded squad. Man City's first team currently has more than 30 players outside the goalkeeper - a number that the Spanish strategist considers unmanageable.

"I don't want to have 6-7 players sitting out every week, just because there's not enough space. That makes them sad, disappointed. I don't want that to happen," Guardiola shared frankly.

With the transfer window still running until the end of August, Man City's squad will continue to change. Guardiola stressed: "I love all the current players, but we have to be fair. Some people will not have a place. We have to deal with it step by step."
