There are 3 main groups of scams (brand counterfeiting, account hijacking and other combined forms) with 24 forms of scams taking place in Vietnam's cyberspace, targeting the following groups of people: the elderly, children, students/youth, workers/laborers, office workers, including:

- “Cheap travel combo” scam.

- Deepfake, Deepvoice video call scam.

- "SIM lock" scam because the subscriber has not been standardized.

- Forged successful money transfer receipt.

- Pretend to be a teacher/ medical staff to report that a relative is in emergency.

- Child model recruitment scam.

- Tricks of impersonating financial companies and banks.

- Installing applications, advertising links for gambling, betting, black credit, etc.

- Impersonating websites of agencies, businesses (social insurance, banks...)

- SMS Brandname fraud, spreading fake messages.

- Fraudulent investment in stocks, virtual currency, multi-level marketing.

- Online recruitment scam.

- Stealing social network accounts, sending scam messages.

- Impersonating police, prosecutors, and courts to make fraudulent phone calls.

- Selling fake goods on e-commerce platforms.

- Stealing citizen identity information to borrow credit.

- Fraudulently transferred money to the wrong bank account.

- Fraudulent service to get money back after being scammed.

- Telegram OTP theft scam.

- Scammers spread fake news about lost calls like FlashAI.

- Facebook recovery service scam.

- Romance fraud, financial investment enticement, sending parcels, winning prizes, etc.

- Spread phishing links, seed dirty ads on Facebook.

- Fraud for lottery numbers.

One of the main reasons for this situation is determined to come from user awareness. Cyber ​​attacks tend to focus mainly on people instead of machines and devices.

Propaganda, dissemination, and awareness raising to equip each individual with basic knowledge and skills to ensure information security in cyberspace is a key factor in creating a safe Vietnamese cyberspace, contributing to accelerating the digital transformation process, developing a sustainable digital socio-economic infrastructure; is a necessary and urgent task in the digital age, protecting information security for all subjects participating in activities in the network environment.

The campaign "Action month to propagate and identify online fraud" will be deployed from June 23 to July 23, 2023, under the chairmanship of the Department of Information Security (Ministry of Information and Communications), in coordination with members of the Propaganda Alliance to raise awareness and skills to ensure information security for people in cyberspace.
