4 places to play in Hanoi with children during the day

Bat Trang Pottery Village, Museum of Ethnology, Imperial Citadel and zoo are suggestions for families who do not want to travel far during the April 30 holiday.

Below are some activities that take place during the holiday in Hanoi. Parents can take their children to have fun during the day, as suggested by the Department of Tourism , from April 29 to May 3.

From 9am to 10:30am on April 30 and May 1, the program "Talking with zoo animals" will take place. On the first day, visitors will learn detailed information about the Vietnamese peacock. On the second day, they will have the opportunity to learn about the white-cheeked gibbon.

Established in 1976, the zoo is currently caring for, raising and displaying over 500 animals of 76 species. Among them, many rare animals are listed in the Vietnam Red Book such as: peacock, white-crested pheasant, striped pheasant, white-cheeked gibbon, Indochinese lake, red leopard, clouded leopard. Each year, this place welcomes about 2 million visitors.

Entrance fee: 30,000 VND (adults) and 20,000 VND (children under 1m3 tall). Opening hours: 6am to 6pm.

The Museum of Ethnology preserves and displays 15,000 artifacts of 54 Vietnamese ethnic groups, classified according to many different criteria such as ethnicity, function, clothing, and jewelry. The permanent exhibition area in the Bronze Drum Hall introduces all 54 ethnic groups in Vietnam. There are many artifacts commonly used in the daily life of the people. In the outdoor exhibition area, there are 10 folk architectural works.

Entrance fee: 40,000 VND (adults), 20,000 VND (students and beneficiaries of preferential policies of the state). Ticket price for students is 10,000 VND and free for children under 6 years old, people with severe disabilities, people with press cards.

Water puppet show at the performance stage at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel heritage site from 10am and 3pm from April 29 to May 1. The performances last 40 minutes.

The exhibition "One Road" takes place over three days from April 29 to May 1, introducing nearly 200 typical documents and artifacts related to April 30, so that visitors can better understand the history of the nation.

Thang Long Imperial Citadel is a world cultural heritage located in the center of Hanoi and has a history of more than 1,300 years. It contains unique relics and artifacts, proving the history of Thang Long - Hanoi and the history of the Vietnamese people through many eras. The work was recognized by UNESCO as a world cultural heritage in 2010.

Ticket price: 30,000 VND (adults), 15,000 VND (students and over 60 years old), free for children under 15 years old and people with revolutionary contributions. Opening hours: 8am to 5pm.

On April 30, the opening ceremony of "Bat Trang I still remember" house at the Ancient House and the exhibition "Memories of the Fire Road" at the Difficulty House by the People's Committee of Bat Trang commune, Gia Lam district.

Bat Trang Village is located on the left bank of the Red River, about 10 km southeast of Hanoi city center. This is a famous pottery village that is not associated with agricultural production, so there are no rice fields in the village.

The Red River flows through Bat Trang for about 1.5 km, with two main wharves, Ba Dau (or Dau Cong) and Chua, connecting with eight ferry piers and two ferry piers along the river in Gia Lam and Van Giang districts. Today, visitors to the village can experience visiting the ancient village, making pottery, and many games and activities suitable for children.
