Authorized by the Prime Minister, Government Inspector General (GI) Doan Hong Phong has just signed a report to the National Assembly on corruption prevention and control.
According to the Government Inspectorate, in 2023 (from October 1, 2022 to September 30, 2023), 55 leaders and deputy leaders were found to be "irresponsible for corruption". Of these, 13 leaders and deputy leaders were criminally prosecuted for being irresponsible for corruption; 42 leaders and deputy leaders were disciplined for being irresponsible for corruption (16 were reprimanded, 13 were warned, and 13 were dismissed).
Ministries, branches and localities also conducted more than 7,000 inspections of the implementation of norms, standards and regimes, detecting 331 cases and 624 violators (an increase of 16% in the number of violations compared to 2022); administratively handled 246 people; transferred 2 people to criminal proceedings; proposed to recover 45.2 billion VND, of which 37.4 billion VND was recovered.

All levels and sectors have transferred the positions of 45,192 cadres, civil servants and public employees to prevent corruption. The transfer must be consistent with expertise and profession, and must not disrupt or affect the implementation of political tasks of agencies, organizations and units.
Over the past year, ministries, branches and localities have also inspected the implementation of the code of conduct of officials and civil servants at 8,211 agencies, organizations and units; promptly detected and corrected violations and handled 938 officials, civil servants and public employees who violated the code of conduct and professional ethics. Notably, the number of officials, civil servants and public employees discovered violating the code of conduct and professional ethics increased by 109% compared to 2022.
The agencies have verified the assets and income of 13,093 people in 2022. From there, 2,664 people were found to have made mistakes in declaring the wrong form, not following the instructions, not providing complete information, being behind schedule compared to regulations... Through the inspection, 54 people were disciplined for being dishonest in declaring assets, income and explaining the origin of additional assets (removed from the candidate list; disciplined in the form of warning, dismissal...).
The report stated that the handling of responsibilities of leaders has had a deterrent effect, enhancing the role and responsibility of leaders in the work of preventing and combating corruption in the agencies and units they are in charge of. However, corruption is still "increasingly sophisticated, complicated; many organized cases, involving group interests, and large-value corrupt assets with foreign elements. Corruption occurs not only domestically but also in the non-state sector, hindering fair competition and affecting the investment and business environment.../.
