5 communes and wards announced the end of African swine fever

QTO - Information from the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine said that up to now, 5 localities have announced the end of African swine fever (ASF) and 6 more communes have gone 21 days without new outbreaks.

Specifically, the communes that have been declared free of the epidemic include: Dan Hoa, Bac Gianh, Tuyen Son, Tan Thanh and Huong Phung. The 6 communes and wards that have passed 21 days are Nam Trach, Dong Trach, Le Thuy, Cam Lo, Tuyen Lam and Nam Dong Ha ward.

It is known that from May 15 until now, ASF has broken out and spread in many localities in the province. 64/78 communes and wards have announced the epidemic and destroyed 74,695 pigs of over 9,000 households.

Deputy Head of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine Duong Viet Phuong Tuan said: Currently, ASF is still complicated, the risk of recurrence and spread in the coming time is still very high. To ensure that no new outbreaks of the disease arise, aiming to completely control ASF in the province, in the coming time, the authorities of communes, wards, related sectors and pig farmers need to continue to strengthen information and propaganda work on measures to prevent and control ASF, especially strictly implementing biosafety measures and declaring livestock according to regulations.
