“50 Years of Gratitude - Song of Pride” spreads love for the homeland

Joining the jubilant atmosphere of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country, a group of art lovers in Can Tho City organized a music night with the theme "50 years of gratitude - Songs of pride" at Thuy Moc coffee shop on 3/2 street. With their love for the country and music, they sang together heroic revolutionary songs, spreading the spirit of pride and gratitude to the generations of fathers and grandfathers who fought and sacrificed so that the country could "be red with the flag of freedom".

The program opened with group singing performances: “The First Spring”, “The Flowers in Uncle Ho’s Garden”, “My Love for the Sea”; ending with the song “The Country Full of Joy”. Besides familiar songs such as “Spring in Ho Chi Minh City”, “A Circle of Vietnam”, “Green Leaves”, “Volunteer”, “Light the Fire”, “The Girl Who Opens the Road”, “The Legend of Mother”, “The Country”, “Eastern Truong Son, Western Truong Son”, “Starry City Night”, “My Train Passing the Mountain”, “Love You Too Much Vietnam”… Just like that, 30 solo, duet, trio and group singing performances were performed emotionally by non-professional singers. The program did not have a professional dance troupe, but there were people who loved to dance in ao dai or red flag uniforms with yellow stars dancing suitable dances, contributing to the joyful and exciting atmosphere.

Many relatives, friends and music lovers who came to support and cheer on the music night enjoyed the program with passion and enthusiasm. Ms. Ngo Thi Truong Xuan, a retired literature teacher, residing in Thoi Binh ward, Ninh Kieu district, said: "I was invited by my former student to watch and was surprised because the program was very good, because the performers sang with love for their homeland, so they attracted listeners not only with their voices but also with their enthusiasm."

It can be said that love for the country is the main factor that makes the music night sublime and spread to everyone. Because it was initially just a small, nameless group, the members introduced and invited friends and people with artistic spirit to join. One person connected another, gradually the number of participants increased and many people signed up to sing and participate... Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Phuong, residing in An Khanh ward, Ninh Kieu district, one of the members of the music night's organizing committee, said: "I used to be the Deputy Director of the Thot Not District Cultural Center, and I have a passion for the arts, so I invited people with similar interests to gather and sing. The group had no name, but every few months they organized a music night at a spacious cafe, each time with a different theme such as singing about autumn, winter, Trinh's music... Each time we played and sang by ourselves, "homegrown" together. This time, we wanted to organize a big, meaningful program to celebrate the 50th anniversary of national reunification. We are very happy that so many people supported and participated enthusiastically, and the music night was a success beyond expectations."

To prepare for the concert, everyone had rehearsals, discussions, and careful preparations. The stage and backdrop were carefully decorated. The list of songs was carefully selected and arranged. In addition to the two members playing guitar and electronic drums, the group also hired an organist and a quality sound system. The cost was contributed by everyone.

Mr. Hoan Son and his wife, Mrs. Vu Nga, in Hung Loi ward, Ninh Kieu district, are active members of the group, present at all programs. Every time, Mr. Son plays the guitar throughout the program but always has a happy smile. He shared: “If everyone sings out of passion, I play out of passion. This time in particular, I am very happy to contribute to the program, I play for a long time without feeling tired. Because listening to revolutionary songs, I feel like I am reliving the great victory of Spring in 1975, very proud and emotional. At that time, I was working in the provincial security and armed reconnaissance force. After the liberation, the force took over Can Tho and joined hands with the army and government to stabilize and build a new life.”

Participating in the program for the first time, Mr. Tran Dat Thanh and Mr. Le Minh Hoang, doctors of Can Tho City Obstetrics Hospital, contributed together when Mr. Thanh played the guitar and Mr. Hoang was a powerful singer, participating in many solo, duet and group performances. Mr. Thanh confided: "The two of us have participated in many art programs of the hospital and interacted with other units, but today, seeing you guys, aunts and uncles singing and dancing so well, I felt that everyone was wonderful, the music was so good and the peace was so beautiful!". As for Mr. Tu Quoc Hung, residing in Thoi Binh ward, Ninh Kieu district, although he had participated in the program before with the group, this time, he felt happier, more excited and more meaningful, so despite being busy with work and family, he still took the time to practice with the group and participated in 2 duet and group performances.

There was no grand stage, no remuneration… but the music night “50 years of gratitude - Song of pride” ended with a beautiful, memorable impression in everyone's hearts.
