In order to summarize that remarkable development journey, the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee organized a conference to summarize 50 years of Ho Chi Minh City's literature and arts (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) and the first series of activities "Ho Chi Minh City Literature and Arts Days" - 2025.
Celebrating 50 years of creativity
The summary conference is an event of profound political , social and cultural significance, directed by the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; chaired by the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission of the City Party Committee, the Department of Culture and Information of Ho Chi Minh City; in coordination with the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Literature and Arts Associations, the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union and related departments and branches.
The event will take place at 8:00 a.m. on October 18 at the Ho Chi Minh City Academy of Officials (No. 324, Chu Van An Street, Binh Thanh Ward, Ho Chi Minh City), to comprehensively review the 50-year development journey of the city's literature and arts after the country's reunification. This is also a key activity to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025) and to welcome the 1st Congress of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, term 2025 - 2030.
Over the past half century, Ho Chi Minh City has always been considered a land rich in revolutionary tradition, creativity and affection - a place where many generations of talented artists and writers converge and nurture. The city's literature and arts have accompanied the construction, protection and development of the country, vividly reflecting the breath of life, contributing to the enrichment of national cultural identity in the period of innovation and international integration.
The summary conference is also an opportunity to express gratitude and honor generations of artists who have devoted their talents and enthusiasm to the development of the city's literature and arts; point out achievements, limitations, and lessons learned; and at the same time determine the direction and tasks for developing Ho Chi Minh City's literature and arts in the period 2025 - 2035, associated with the strategy of developing cultural industries, building the city into a "City of Cinema", "City of Festivals" in the future.
“Ho Chi Minh City Literature and Arts Days”: The first large-scale event
Along with the summary conference, Ho Chi Minh City organized a series of activities "Ho Chi Minh City Literature and Arts Days" from October 18 to 21, 2025 at the Youth Cultural House (No. 4, Pham Ngoc Thach Street, Saigon Ward) and coordination points in Binh Duong Ward, Ba Ria Ward, Vung Tau Ward, Con Dao Special Zone.
This is the first time the event has been held on a large scale, comprehensively, gathering all fields of art: from literature, music , fine arts, theater, cinema, dance, photography, architecture, design to new art forms. The event comprehensively portrays the city's literature and art through each stage of development, reflecting the process of innovation, integration and continuous creativity of the artists.
“Ho Chi Minh City Literature and Arts Days” is a space connecting artists, the public and tourists; a place to honor outstanding works of art, honor groups and individuals with many outstanding contributions; at the same time, encourage the movement of composing, performing and enjoying art in the community, especially the young generation.
All activities within the framework of the event are open to the public, creating conditions for a large number of people, students, artists and domestic and foreign tourists to visit, enjoy, exchange and experience the city's unique culture and art.
Arousing creative aspirations, affirming the position of a major cultural center
The events “Conference summarizing 50 years of Ho Chi Minh City literature and arts” and “Ho Chi Minh City Literature and Arts Days” are not only an occasion to summarize and honor, but also open up a new development vision for the city's literature and arts in the next period.
