Participating in this competition were 100 students representing 19 secondary schools in coastal communes and wards in the southern part of the province. The contestants went through 4 rounds: "Going out to sea", "Crossing the waves", "Arriving at the shore", "Setting a sovereignty marker", with rich knowledge about the sea, islands and sovereignty over the sea and islands.
As a result, the Organizing Committee awarded 3 collective prizes to the secondary schools: Tran Phu, Luong The Vinh and Le Dinh Chinh; awarded 1 first prize, 2 second prizes, 2 third prizes and 15 individual consolation prizes to the contestants with good achievements. At the same time, the Organizing Committee selected 50 contestants with the best achievements of the 2nd contest cluster to participate in the provincial round.

At the same time, it helps students grasp the history and traditions of their homeland and country; the viewpoints, policies and guidelines of the Party, policies and laws of the State in resolving issues related to seas and islands in accordance with international law".
