According to the Department, since the beginning of 2025, the traffic situation has changed a lot. In which, the volume of public passenger transport in the first 6 months of 2025 is estimated at 267.4 million passengers, an increase of 10% over the same period in 2024.
Notably, the volume of public passenger transport by bus is estimated at 45.9 million passengers, an increase of 5.8% over the same period in 2024.
The passenger transport volume of metro line No. 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien) is estimated to reach nearly 10 million passengers.

Units in Ho Chi Minh City are also constantly developing the bus system in the direction of "green" vehicles, improving the service quality of drivers, bus attendants...
In addition, there are incentives for customers paying cashlessly when traveling by public transport, and the launch of the MultiGo application to help people find convenient bus routes and directions.
The Public Transport Management Center (under the Department of Construction) shared that in the coming time, the unit will continue to try to implement many plans and programs to increase the quality of buses and public transport, and gain the support of the people.
Regarding traffic safety and order, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Loi - Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction - said that in the past 6 months, Ho Chi Minh City has not experienced serious traffic congestion.
"The units recorded a traffic jam, caused by a collision between 3 cars during rush hour, causing trucks carrying goods from the Southeast provinces, Da Lat to Thu Duc agricultural market to be congested on National Highway 1 (from Song Than overpass to Binh Phuoc intersection).
The Traffic Police Department (PC08) of Ho Chi Minh City Police quickly directed its subordinate units to assign forces to the above location to handle the incident and regulate traffic flow, to avoid prolonged traffic jams, causing complications in traffic order and safety," said Mr. Loi.
Ho Chi Minh City has only one black spot for traffic accidents.
According to the report of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction, from the beginning of the year until now, Ho Chi Minh City has had 547 traffic accidents (including collisions), killing 234 people and injuring 285 people. Compared to the same period, there were 260 fewer accidents and 249 fewer injuries.
Regarding handling traffic accident black spots, in the past, Ho Chi Minh City had 3 black spots that needed to be removed and the units have implemented many solutions to remove 2 spots. Up to now, Ho Chi Minh City still has 1 traffic accident black spot.
