Attending the special discussion were Ms. Dang Kim Tram, sister of martyr Dang Thuy Tram, who compiled the book Dang Thuy Tram and the third diary ; poet Thanh Thao; Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Ngan, representative of the Vietnamese Women's Publishing House; Mr. Tran Dinh Tam, a soldier who was treated by doctor Dang Thuy Tram; journalist Uyen Ly, who went to the US to meet veteran Nguyen Trung Hieu - the person who once said: "Don't burn it, there's already fire in there."
Dang Thuy Tram and the third diary
Speaking at the seminar, Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ngai province, was moved when talking about the heroic martyr, doctor Dang Thuy Tram, a girl from Hanoi , at the most beautiful age of her life, quietly left her home to enter the fierce battlefield of Duc Pho, Quang Ngai, carrying in her heart the love for the country, the people and the communist ideal.
“Ms. Dang Thuy Tram is not only a military doctor, but also a shining symbol of humanism, dedication and silent sacrifice. Her diary – pages filled with tears, blood and love – not only touched the hearts of millions of Vietnamese people, but also touched the conscience of humanity," Mr. Dung shared.
Ms. Dang Kim Tram also introduced the book Dang Thuy Tram and the third diary at the seminar .
The book includes never-before-published diary entries of Heroic Martyr, Doctor Dang Thuy Tram, written during her last two years of studying at Hanoi Medical University and during her preparation for going to B, revealing the feelings and qualities of a Dang Thuy Tram later on the battlefield.
Previously, in 2005, two war diaries of the heroic martyr, doctor Dang Thuy Tram, after 35 years of "hiding" in the US, were returned to her family by American veterans and thanks to that, the world learned about Dang Thuy Tram's Diary .
To date, more than half a million copies of the book have been published in Vietnam and 23 countries around the world.
Journey in the footsteps of martyr Dang Thuy Tram
Today, the Dang Thuy Tram relic site (Duc Pho town, Quang Ngai province) is a place that preserves the relics and touching stories about the heroic martyr, doctor Dang Thuy Tram.
This relic site includes: Dang Thuy Tram Infirmary, Secret Tunnel in the garden of physician Ta Thi Ninh (Pho Cuong Commune, Duc Pho Town), Forward Surgical Station at Bong Dau Mountain (Pho Khanh Commune, Duc Pho Town), Cold Water Stream (Dong Lon Hamlet, Ba Trang Commune), where doctor Dang Thuy Tram sacrificed her life...
Mr. Duong Duc Minh, Deputy Director of the Institute for Economic Development and Tourism Research (HCMC), said that while many revolutionary relics have faded away or only have dry plaques left, the places associated with Dang Thuy Tram are still somewhat intact, thanks to the preservation of local people and conservation organizations.
This is a golden opportunity to combine conservation, exploitation and education. Instead of being limited to traditional sightseeing, the tour “Journey in the footsteps of martyr Dang Thuy Tram” should be organized as an interactive journey with cultural, emotional and cognitive elements.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, Editor -in-Chief of Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Magazine, shared that each person at the special relics in the journey of martyr Dang Thuy Tram is also an ambassador for the story about this special woman.
It is they and their lively presence that help visitors feel Dang Thuy Tram more than anyone else. Therefore, mobilizing local people to participate in this special journey is a way that needs to be considered.
Recently, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and other units conducted a survey at the Memorial Site of Heroic Martyr, Doctor Dang Thuy Tram. After the survey, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism will assess the current situation and propose contents that need to be restored and repaired.
* On the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the Heroic Martyrs' Day, the death of Doctor Dang Thuy Tram (June 22, 1970 - June 22, 2025), the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism organized an art program with the theme "Dang Thuy Tram - Forever the flame of the twenties" to perform the play "Dang Thuy Tram" (author Nguyen Quang Vinh, edited and directed by Meritorious Artist Pham Huy Thuc).
Heroic martyr, Doctor Dang Thuy Tram was born on November 26, 1942 in a family of intellectuals with a tradition in the medical profession. In July 1966, after graduating from Hanoi Medical University with honors, she refused the opportunity to stay in Hanoi as a lecturer or doctor in a large hospital, to attend a special training course, preparing to go to the South.
In March 1967, after nearly 3 months of hard marching, she entered the battlefield of Duc Pho, Quang Ngai. During this time, she was responsible for treating many wounded soldiers of the district armed forces, local people and guerrillas.
On June 22, 1970, on her way to find food for wounded soldiers, she unfortunately fell into an enemy ambush and heroically sacrificed herself at the age of 28.
