Strong innovation to meet new requirements
Speaking at the anniversary, journalist Nguyen Khac Van, Deputy Editor-in-Chief in charge of SGGP Newspaper, shared that 100 years - a glorious journey, but also a reminder of continuing responsibility. The press today and tomorrow must constantly train, improve, apply technology, integrate internationally, improve quality and professional ethics, and be worthy of being the core force in the cause of developing a prosperous and happy country.
According to journalist Nguyen Khac Van, for SGGP Newspaper, in that journey, over the past half century, each publication of the newspaper is the crystallization of the passion, intelligence and sense of responsibility of many generations of journalists, always following the flow of the times, promptly reflecting the political and social life of the city named after Uncle Ho.
“As the trusted voice of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, SGGP Newspaper always adheres to its principles and goals, carries out its political tasks, constantly innovates and modernizes its content and form, enhances the application of technology, expands its digital media platform, and especially focuses on reaching young readers - the force that inherits and builds the country's future,” said journalist Nguyen Khac Van.
Speaking at the ceremony, Comrade Tang Huu Phong, Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, shared the joy with SGGP Newspaper at the 43rd Ho Chi Minh City Press Awards - 2025, when SGGP Newspaper won two first prizes. This shows the serious investment and the increasingly improved content quality of the newspaper.
Comrade Tang Huu Phong commented: “SGGP Newspaper has closely followed the mainstream news of the whole country and the city, many articles have created positive social effects, receiving great attention from readers”. In addition, SGGP Online publication has also made a clear breakthrough, attracting a large number of readers to seek out official information sources.
In particular, the social activities outside the newspaper and the programs for students in remote areas of SGGP Newspaper in recent times have created a deep impression and spread strongly throughout the country.
Referring to the current historical moment of the whole country, comrade Tang Huu Phong suggested that the press needs to strongly innovate, not only to meet the demands of society but also to stem from the internal demands and requirements of press activities.
"SGGP Newspaper needs to speed up the process of streamlining its apparatus, building an elite journalism team capable of taking on a pivotal role in the Ho Chi Minh City press system," comrade Tang Huu Phong requested.
Comrade Tang Huu Phong also hopes that SGGP Newspaper will continue to expand its behind-the-scenes programs, strengthen community connections, and make practical contributions to social development.
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, Comrade Tang Huu Phong sent his congratulations to the entire team of journalists, expressing his belief that SGGP Newspaper will continue to make breakthroughs, maintain its leading role and leave an impression in the hearts of readers.
Additional rewards for award-winning press works at all levels
On this occasion, 9 journalists of SGGP Newspaper were awarded the "For the Cause of Vietnamese Journalism" Medal by the Vietnam Journalists Association , for having worked together for 15-20 years in the field of professional journalism.
SGGP Newspaper also commended collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements; additionally commended authors and groups of authors who won the Golden Hammer and Sickle Award for the work "Waste - Internal Invaders" by the group of authors who won the C Prize. At the same time, additionally commended authors who won the Ho Chi Minh City Press Award and specialized awards for 19 works.
Spread positive values
At the celebration, SGGP Newspaper coordinated with the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union to summarize and award the prizes of the Shining Vietnamese Values 2023-2025 contest, jointly organized by the two units.
The contest is a practical activity that contributes to spreading positive values, aiming to limit bad and negative things in society.
The contest also aims to encourage press works honoring collectives and individuals with deeds, actions, models and solutions to promote patriotism, national self-reliance, and arouse aspirations for national development.
It is also a celebration of collectives or individuals with outstanding achievements in various fields or models, research and creative works that affirm the height of Vietnamese intelligence in national and international arenas; actions and solutions that bring efficiency to society.
The contest received more than 600 entries, including articles and video clips, in many genres: reportage - notes, memoirs, reflections, interviews...
SGGP Newspaper selected to publish 263 articles and video clips about outstanding people and positive stories.
Over the past two years, the contest has attracted the participation of many famous writers and a large number of union members, youth, students and pupils across the country. Many outstanding articles and video clips have been selected to be posted on the ecosystem of SGGP Newspaper and the social networking platforms of the Central Youth Union.
After review, the Organizing Committee selected 32 works (19 articles, 13 video clips) to award prizes including: 1 First Prize for articles, 2 Second Prizes, 3 Third Prizes and 26 Encouragement Prizes. Binh Dinh Provincial Youth Union with 70 entries won the prize for the Unit with the most entries.
Total value of prizes is over 1 billion VND.
In which, the first prize is 50 million VND and a Canon EOS RP camera worth 30 million VND; the second prize is 30 million VND and a Canon EOS RP camera worth 30 million VND; the third prize is 25 million VND and an EOS RP camera worth 30 million VND; the encouragement prize is 10 million VND and a Canon G1010 printer worth 3 million VND. The prize for the collective unit with the most entries is 10 million VND.
After the award ceremony, SGGP Newspaper continued to coordinate with the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union to launch the Shining Vietnamese Values Contest 2025-2026.
