On August 10, Dutch prosecutors said customs officials at the port of Rotterdam seized a shipment of more than 8,000 kg of cocaine hidden in a container carrying bananas.

This is a record amount of drugs seized at this port.

According to a prosecutor's spokesman, the shipment was shipped from Ecuador, via the Panama Canal to Rotterdam before being detected by sniffer dogs during a container inspection on July 13.

The seizure was kept secret to serve the investigation.

The drugs were estimated to be worth 600 million euros (660 million USD) and were destroyed. Authorities have not yet arrested anyone in this case./.
