Durian price today

According to a survey from purchasing warehouses in the Mekong Delta region, the durian market today did not record any major price fluctuations. However, due to entering the final stage of the season, scarce output, and uneven quality, the price level in the Southwest region tends to be lower than the other two regions.

Specifically, Ri6 durian type A is being purchased by warehouses at 44,000 - 46,000 VND/kg. Ri6 type B is priced at 30,000 - 32,000 VND/kg, while type C is traded around 25,000 - 28,000 VND/kg. Meanwhile, Thai durian type A is priced from 76,000 - 78,000 VND/kg, type B fluctuates at 56,000 - 58,000 VND/kg and type C is at 40,000 - 45,000 VND/kg. Thai durian VIP A alone recorded the highest price in the region at 95,000 - 100,000 VND/kg, while type VIP B is at 70,000 - 75,000 VND/kg.

Despite lower prices, the Southwest market remains stable thanks to domestic demand and supplies for domestic contracts. Some traders said that due to the decline in the quality of late-season fruit, the selection of durians meeting export standards has become more stringent, leading to a slight squeeze in purchase prices.

In the Southeast region, the durian market today maintains a fairly high price compared to the Southwest region. Ri6 durian type A is purchased at 43,000 - 46,000 VND/kg, type B at 30,000 - 32,000 VND/kg and type C fluctuates at 25,000 - 28,000 VND/kg. Thai durian type A is currently priced at 80,000 - 84,000 VND/kg, type B is 60,000 - 64,000 VND/kg, type C is from 42,000 - 45,000 VND/kg. Notably, VIP Thai durian in this region still maintains the mark of 95,000 - 100,000 VND/kg.

Meanwhile, in the Central Highlands, although there is still more than a month left until the main harvest season, the current durian price is still quite good thanks to stable demand from purchasing businesses with export contracts. The price of Ri6 durian type A here ranges from 42,000 - 45,000 VND/kg, type B is at 30,000 - 32,000 VND/kg and type C is 25,000 - 28,000 VND/kg. Thai durian type A is recorded at 78,000 - 85,000 VND/kg, type B is traded at 65,000 - 68,000 VND/kg, and type C is from 40,000 - 45,000 VND/kg. Thai VIP type also maintains the price of 95,000 - 100,000 VND/kg like other regions.

Latest durian news

Notably, Dak Lak province – one of the country’s key durian growing areas – is actively implementing measures to control the quality of growing areas in preparation for the upcoming season. According to a representative of Thang Tien Cooperative (Krong Pak), each durian can now be traced back to each tree, each farming household and the date of fertilization via a QR code.

In addition, the Dak Lak Durian Association has launched a campaign "Say no to banned substances in the production, processing and preservation of durian" to ensure that shipments meet strict standards from the Chinese, Japanese and European markets.

Not stopping at the cultivation stage, the durian industry in the Central Highlands is also entering a repositioning phase through processing technology. Some products such as freeze-dried durian, durian ice cream mixed with cashew nuts, etc. have appeared in supermarkets and convenience stores. Investing in deep processing is expected to help stabilize output, reducing the pressure of "rescue" when the season is off or exports are difficult.
