Agribank has urgently issued a document requesting branches in the entire system to step up the supply of credit capital for loans for rice production and trading.
Accordingly, Agribank branches will proactively approach, guide on conditions and procedures for granting credit, promptly meet the loan needs of people and businesses with appropriate loan limits and terms for purchasing, storing, processing, domestic consumption and exporting rice in 2025, especially purchasing winter-spring rice in provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta. At the same time, Agribank will consider expanding medium- and long-term credit for customers who meet the loan conditions as prescribed to invest in warehouses, factories, machinery and equipment for processing, preservation, temporary storage, etc. for domestic consumption and export.
The entire Agribank system continues to promote the implementation of credit policies to serve agricultural and rural development according to Decree 55/2015/ND-CP and Decree 116/2018/ND-CP of the Government, focusing on lending to rice chain models from production to purchasing, processing, preserving and consuming products to create favorable conditions for customers to access and use credit capital effectively.
Along with that, Agribank promotes the implementation of preferential loan programs and policies for production and business customers; promotes the implementation of the Loan Program for linking production, processing and consumption of high-quality and low-emission rice products in the Mekong Delta; strengthens the Bank - Enterprise connection activities, coordinates with the Vietnam Food Association, the Vietnam Rice Industry Association and local Departments and Branches to provide information on mechanisms, policies, credit products and grasp credit needs to promptly meet customers' capital needs.
As the main bank providing credit capital for the development of "Tam Nong", the proportion of loans to the agricultural, farmer and rural areas of Agribank always reaches about 65% of the total outstanding loans. For the rice sector, the outstanding loans of the entire Agribank system currently reach about 75,000 billion VND, of which the outstanding loans for rice in the Mekong Delta region account for about 50%.
Along with implementing credit policies to serve agricultural and rural development according to Decree 55/2015/ND-CP and Decree 116/2018/ND-CP of the Government , in order to increase access to capital, from the beginning of 2025, Agribank has implemented credit programs with a scale of 350,000 billion VND with preferential interest rates for individual customers and corporate customers, including many preferential credit packages for customers producing and trading in the rice sector.
Agribank is the key bank implementing the loan project for 1 million hectares of high-quality and low-emission rice cultivation in the Mekong Delta in the pilot phase until the end of 2025 and continuing to implement the program until the end of 2030, supporting a minimum interest rate reduction of 1%/year compared to the lending interest rate of the corresponding term currently applied to each customer group, meeting the short, medium and long-term capital needs of all stages of production, purchasing, processing and consumption in the rice linkage, contributing to realizing Vietnam's commitment to developing green and sustainable agriculture.
