To implement the construction of "Great Unity" houses for the people, Vietinbank Quang Binh branch has coordinated with the Party Committee, the government, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee at all levels to survey, evaluate, and select eligible households and provide cash support; at the same time, mobilize families, siblings, and neighbors to donate and support additional funds and working days to complete the houses. Notably, the new houses supported by Vietinbank Quang Binh branch in 2024 have all been completed and handed over to people to live in before the Lunar New Year of At Ty 2025.
Ms. Vo Thi Hue (65 years old), in Dong Thanh village, Ly Nam commune, (Bo Trach) shared: “Without the support of Vietinbank Quang Binh branch, a single woman like me would never have been able to build a house like today. I am very grateful to the bank, the Party Committee, the government, the sponsors and the neighbors who joined hands and supported us to build a solid house. Now, every time it rains or storms, I feel secure and no longer worry like before. With a new house, during the recent Lunar New Year, my children had a decent place to eat and stay...”.
Ms. Vo Thi Hue is a single mother raising 3 children. Every time there is a heavy rain or storm, she and her children have to take shelter at a neighbor's house. When her children got married and moved out, she lived alone in a small makeshift house built more than 30 years ago. Every day, she does whatever work people in the village hire her to do. However, due to her old age and frequent illnesses, she has to eat when she goes to work, but when she is at home, she has to rely on her children and neighbors. Her new house has an area of over 50 square meters, is solidly built, has a bedroom, kitchen, private bathroom... so it is very convenient for living.
Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ly Nam Commune, Nguyen Thi Cuc, said: “The house of Ms. Vo Thi Hue cost more than 200 million VND after completion. Of which, Vietinbank Quang Binh branch supported 100 million VND, the commune supported 20 million VND from the local “Great Solidarity” House Building Fund, businesses and benefactors supported 10 million VND and the remaining amount was supported by her children, brothers and sisters. In addition, the villagers also contributed extra working days to help her complete the house. After having a new house, Ms. Hue voluntarily asked to be removed from the poor household.”
In recent times, Bo Trach district has mobilized many resources to support poor and near-poor households to build many houses. Notably, in 2024, VietinBank Quang Binh branch supported the construction of 10 houses with a total amount of 1 billion VND. The new houses truly bring joy and happiness to the poor, serving as a basis for many households to escape poverty.
Minh Hoa is a mountainous district with a large number of poor households and a great need for solid housing. Understanding the wishes of the poor, Vietinbank Quang Binh branch has, through the Party Committee, the government, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee at all levels, supported the construction of 30 "Great Unity" houses with a total value of 3 billion VND. According to Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Minh Hoa district Dinh Hong Sam: "The support for the construction of "Great Unity" houses for poor and near-poor households in the area by Vietinbank Quang Binh branch has demonstrated the precious tradition of "the strong help the weak" of the nation, helping people have joy, stabilize their lives, and move towards sustainable poverty reduction".
Ms. Dinh Thi Dien (36 years old), in Quang Hoa village, Hong Hoa commune (Minh Hoa) happily said: “Thanks to the support of Vietinbank Quang Binh branch, I have a spacious house like now. I have a small child and am constantly sick, so I have no money to save to repair or build a new house. I am very grateful for the support of Vietinbank Quang Binh branch as well as the local government and neighbors. My children and I no longer live in the rain and wind, the dream of a sturdy, clean and beautiful house has come true”.
Ms. Dien was born into a poor family. After finishing 9th grade, she had to drop out of school to work to help her family. When she had children, she returned to her hometown and her parents built her a small house, but after only a few years, the house fell into disrepair. In the past three years, she has had a heart disease, so her difficulties have increased. In that situation, the Party Committee, the government, the Fatherland Front and Vietinbank Quang Binh branch supported her family with more than 100 million VND to build a new house with an area of nearly 60 square meters, which was completed and handed over before the Lunar New Year 2025.
Not only Ms. Hue and Ms. Dien, but also 100 houses supported by Vietinbank Quang Binh branch have been built, completed and handed over to households to welcome a warm and happy Tet, contributing to the implementation of the National Target Program on sustainable poverty reduction and responding to the movement "The whole country joins hands for the poor - No one is left behind".
Deputy Director of Vietinbank Quang Binh branch, Truong Cong Tu, expressed: “We are very happy to see poor and near-poor households living in new, spacious, clean and beautiful houses. These are gifts containing the affection and responsibility of the staff and employees of the entire Vietinbank system towards the community. Hopefully, the projects will be effective, contributing to giving people more motivation and confidence to overcome difficulties and rise up in life.”
