In the 2025-2026 school year, the province will have 646 educational institutions, with 20,295 administrators, teachers, and staff, and over 200,000 students. Many of these teachers, staff, and students are from disadvantaged backgrounds. Given this reality, at the end of the year, the education sector and schools proactively organize activities to share resources, give Tet gifts, and promptly encourage the morale of teachers and students.
The situation of teacher Ha Thi Hao, a teacher at Dong Dang High School, is a prime example. Twenty years dedicated to her profession, behind her regular teaching hours lies the long journey of a wife caring for her paralyzed husband, a mother who is both father and mother, and the sole breadwinner of the family. These days, upon receiving Tet gifts from the education sector, she emotionally shared: "The gifts not only provide my family with some cakes and rice, but also offer immense emotional comfort."
In the province, many students still have to bear the burden of difficult family circumstances from a very young age.
Nguyen Thi Hoa, a student in class 12A2 at the Provincial Ethnic Boarding High School, is one such case. Her father passed away early, leaving her mother to raise three sisters and her elderly grandmother alone. Her family is classified as a poor household in Lang Ga 2 village, Hung Vu commune. The two sisters attend boarding school together, supporting each other on their educational journey. Hoa's circumstances are well-known to her teachers, who regularly show concern and encouragement. Recently, she was selected by the school to participate in the "Tet of Compassion" program organized by the education sector and received Tet gifts from the department's leaders. For Hoa, the gift is not only material support at the end of the year but also a great source of encouragement, helping her to have more confidence to continue striving in her studies and gradually overcome her family's difficult circumstances.
This care and support didn't happen all at once. Following the Department of Education and Training's directive to organize activities to care for teachers and students in difficult circumstances during Tet (Lunar New Year), schools proactively launched savings and fundraising campaigns during semester-end summaries, mobilizing parents and teachers to create support resources. Movements like "Teachers helping colleagues develop" and "Students helping students progress" were regularly maintained, fostering a sense of unity within each school.
In January 2026, 100% of schools organized activities to celebrate the Lunar New Year, incorporating gift-giving for teachers and students in difficult circumstances. In addition, the Department of Education and Training directed units to review and compile specific lists for focused support, while proactively calling on organizations and individuals to participate in supporting the cause. Through this, the Provincial Association for the Promotion of Learning contributed 50 million VND, several businesses and banks in the province donated over 30 million VND, and contributions from officials, teachers, and staff throughout the sector created a fund of over 200 million VND to prepare gifts for 165 teachers and students in difficult circumstances during the "Compassionate Tet" event.
Mr. Hoang Quoc Tuan, Director of the Department of Education and Training, emphasized: The "Compassionate Tet" program is an opportunity for the entire education sector to come together and share after a year of hard work in teaching and learning. Behind the achievements of the sector, there are still teachers, staff, and students facing difficult circumstances, so caring for them during Tet is meaningful so that every member of the "education family" can have a warm and fulfilling Tet. When teachers and students feel the care from the collective, they have more motivation to continue to stay in their classes and schools, steadfastly fulfilling their teaching and learning duties.
Tet will pass, the gifts will run out, but what remains is the belief that behind every teacher and every student facing difficulties, there is always a community ready to share. It is this belief that helps teachers stay committed to their schools, helps students confidently attend classes, and ensures that spring is present in every day of teaching and learning under the school roof.
