On the afternoon of November 19, in Rach Gia ward, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of An Giang province coordinated with the Vietnam Bird's Nest Association to organize the Conference "Connecting supply and demand for bird's nest consumption in An Giang province in 2025", with the theme "Elevating the brand, reaching APEC 2027". The conference attracted the participation of households and businesses in the bird's nest industry value chain.
The conference aims to assess the development of the bird's nest farming industry and orient the development of bird's nest business activities in the province. At the same time, it creates a forum for businesses, production, processing, purchasing and exporting establishments to exchange needs, resolve difficulties and connect with consumer markets.
Speaking at the opening of the conference, Mr. Tran Thanh Hiep, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of An Giang province, said: An Giang is a locality with a large number of bird's nest houses in the country, with nearly 4,500 bird's nest houses, the planned output in 2025 is 35 tons, and in the first 6 months of the year alone, nearly 20 tons have been harvested. However, the activities of raising, exploiting and consuming bird's nests are still mainly on a household scale, lacking chain linkages, not fully meeting the standards of traceability and food safety.
Therefore, this supply-demand connection conference is of great significance in removing difficulties, providing technical support, perfecting farming, processing, preservation processes and creating conditions for An Giang bird's nest products to meet the standards to participate in the official export market, aiming at major events such as APEC 2027 that Vietnam will host in Phu Quoc special economic zone.

At the conference, delegates spent time visiting trade booths, discussing the current status of bird nest farming, instructions on registering OCOP product registration documents and standards for bird nest products. The conference also spent time discussing requirements for export products, sharing experiences of businesses in building farming areas and controlling quality before bringing products to the international market. Especially meeting the requirements of the Protocol on exporting bird nests to China, for official export.
In addition, experts will present policies to support chain linkages, traceability and building brand recognition for An Giang bird's nest. The conference is expected to expand the consumption market, increase the value of the bird's nest industry in An Giang province, especially bird's nest processed to OCOP standards, approaching regional and international standards.
