An Giang strives to start building schools in border communes before December 19, 2025

Vice Chairwoman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy chaired the meeting.

Implementing the policy of building schools in border communes according to the conclusion of the Politburo in Notice No. 81-TB/TW, dated July 18, 2025, the Prime Minister requested Ministers, Heads of agencies, Chairmen of People's Committees of border provinces and cities to focus on directing strongly and determinedly completing the construction of 100/248 schools in 2025 and completing before August 30, 2026.

An Giang province has 14 land border communes and wards, including 9 communes: An Phu, Nhon Hoi, Khanh Binh, Phu Huu, Vinh Xuong, Ba Chuc, Vinh Gia, Giang Thanh, Vinh Dieu and 5 wards: Chau Doc, Vinh Te, Tinh Bien, Thoi Son, Ha Tien.

The People's Committee of An Giang province has reported and proposed to the Ministry of Education and Training a list of investment projects to build schools in 14 communes and wards along the mainland border. In phase 1, An Giang will build 3 schools in 3 communes: Giang Thanh, Vinh Gia, Khanh Binh, to be completed and put into use before August 30, 2026. The Department of Education and Training proposed to unify the name of the school as a semi-boarding and boarding school for primary and secondary schools associated with the name of the commune.

Vice Chairwoman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy delivered concluding remarks at the meeting.

At the working session, departments, branches, units and localities reported on the progress of implementing tasks under the direction of the Provincial People's Committee; presented difficulties and obstacles in implementation and proposed and asked for directions on how to resolve them.

Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairwoman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy emphasized that the policy of building schools in border communes is a major policy with profound political, social and humanitarian significance. An Giang Province focuses on implementing the motto "urgent, resolute", "certain", "effective" to ensure progress, quality and compliance with legal regulations.

Comrade Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy requested departments and branches to continue implementing unfinished contents according to the conclusion of the previous meeting and Plan 137/KH-UBND of the Provincial People's Committee.

Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training Thieu Van Nam reported at the meeting.

The Vice Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Finance to advise the Provincial People's Committee on the project implementation mechanism. At the same time, coordinate with the Department of Education and Training and investors to determine the investment scale, total investment, capital sources for project implementation and other related contents, synthesize and report to the Provincial People's Committee to report to the Provincial People's Committee Party Committee to determine the capital sources for implementation.

The Department of Education and Training is assigned to urgently coordinate with the Department of Home Affairs and relevant units and localities to develop a project to establish 3 schools to ensure conditions for schools to operate in accordance with regulations and together with investors to determine the scale of projects to meet the criteria for schools and classes according to Resolution No. 298/NQ-CP of the Government.

Representatives of the Provincial Project Management Board reported on the implementation of preparations for school construction in Vinh Gia and Khanh Binh communes.

Vice Chairwoman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy requested project investors to urgently coordinate with the Department of Education and Training and relevant units to complete project documents, ensure feasibility and ability to implement projects on schedule, and commit to starting construction of the projects by December 19, 2025.

For the People's Committees of localities, continue to coordinate with investors to implement projects; proactively coordinate with relevant agencies to promptly complete procedures on construction and land planning, creating conditions for rapid implementation of projects.

Assign the Department of Agriculture and Environment to discuss with investors and localities to create land funds; assign the Department to synthesize the needs of investors regarding the source of materials used for leveling, and advise the Provincial People's Committee to arrange the source of materials to ensure compliance with legal regulations.

Representatives of the Provincial Construction Investment and Traffic Management Board reported on the implementation of preparations for school construction in Giang Thanh communes.
