An Giang focuses on completing projects and works to serve APEC 2027 early

On the morning of November 21, at Phu Quoc special economic zone, the Standing Committee of An Giang Provincial Party Committee held a meeting to listen to the Provincial People's Committee and the Standing Committee of Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone Party Committee report on the preparation of conditions for the APEC 2027 Conference; difficulties, obstacles and proposed solutions for implementation in the coming time.

Speaking at the meeting, Secretary of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Tien Hai emphasized that the APEC 2027 Summit is a rare opportunity to create a breakthrough, promoting Phu Quoc to develop quickly, strongly and sustainably.

However, there is not much time left until the Conference, while the workload for the Conference is huge, in many fields. Therefore, agencies and units need to make the greatest effort and determination in implementing the preparation work; projects and works for the APEC 2027 Conference must be completed 3-6 months before the Conference takes place.

The Secretary of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee highly appreciated the implementation of project groups and works serving the APEC 2027 Conference in November, all investment procedures of major projects were basically completed. Especially the project to expand Phu Quoc International Airport, APEC Conference Center, Press Center...

At the same time, the Provincial People's Committee is requested to continue completing all investment procedures in accordance with its authority and legal regulations, and promptly implement the next steps to ensure the progress of works and projects.

Secretary of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Tien Hai requested the Provincial People's Committee to pay special attention to promptly removing obstacles in investment procedures; requiring investors to build and maintain detailed progress tracking tables, absolutely not allowing delays to occur, ensuring to speed up the disbursement of investment capital for projects.

Regarding site clearance, the Secretary of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee requested to strictly implement legal regulations, carefully consider each specific case and incident; at the same time, step up propaganda, mobilization, and clear explanation to create consensus among the people.

Along with that, strengthen communication work, consider communication as a priority task, have a communication campaign before, during and after the APEC 2027 Conference, contribute to creating social consensus and support the province and Phu Quoc special zone to complete a large amount of work in the coming time...

The Department of Culture and related units develop a communication project in the direction of a comprehensive campaign, not a regular propaganda plan. Communication must clearly define the target audience, content, form, transmission channels and implementation time, along with a detailed plan, final product and specific results.

The Secretary noted that the media should not only rely on newspapers, billboards, and slogans, but must also promote the role of the Front, mass organizations, residential party cells, and cadres, civil servants, and public employees to create a widespread impact in the community.

Regarding the urban beautification project, An Giang Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Tien Hai requested a clear division of investment and non-investment items; in which drainage infrastructure, wastewater collection and treatment need to be urgently deployed; the government needs to guide people to participate in beautification, create model neighborhoods, mobilize cleaning, plant trees, beautify facades, organize businesses according to regulations, and not encroach on sidewalks.

“Phu Quoc Special Zone in coordination with relevant sectors and units needs to tighten land and construction management, put an end to the situation of violations. In particular, focus and clearly assign responsibilities to grassroots forces, such as local police, residential groups, self-management groups... to regularly inspect, promptly detect, make records, and prevent from the beginning,” An Giang Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Tien Hai directed.

Regarding the preparation of conditions for the APEC 2027 Conference, the leader of the An Giang Provincial People's Committee said that the Provincial People's Committee has a master plan for the province's activities to serve the organization of APEC 2027 activities and requested the sub-committees to urgently develop detailed sub-projects for each assigned task, clearly defining the goals, tasks, milestones and products to ensure effective implementation of tasks serving APEC 2027.

Regarding the progress of implementation of 21 projects serving the APEC Conference, they are divided into 2 groups, including group 1 of 10 public investment projects.

In this group, 9/9 projects classified as urgent works have been issued construction orders according to regulations. All 9 projects have been approved for investment and completed the selection of construction contractors; public investment projects serving APEC have been allocated a total capital plan for 2025 of nearly 4,297 billion VND, including central budget capital of more than 2,750 billion VND and local budget capital of more than 1,545 billion VND.

As of November 17, 2025, the cumulative disbursement reached more than VND 1,666 billion; for group 2, including 11 investment projects under the public-private partnership (PPP) method and business investment, up to now, 11/11 projects have selected investors in accordance with the provisions of law, ensuring progress requirements.

Mr. Tran Minh Khoa, Chairman of the People's Committee of Phu Quoc Special Zone, said that the Party Committee of the special zone has established a propaganda and mobilization team to carry out activities within the framework of the APEC forum in 2027, raising awareness and responsibility of the entire political system, people and businesses to actively join hands to prepare for the APEC Conference with the motto "each Phu Quoc resident is a tourism ambassador;" along with that, the pilot implementation of the model "Crime-free, drug-free motels;" focusing on reviewing the situation of illegal construction, encroachment on forest land, state-managed land in Phu Quoc special zone./.
