The talk took place in a solemn and warm atmosphere at Regiment 892 (An Giang Provincial Military Command), attracting a large number of union members, youth and soldiers to attend. The opening performances recreated the heroic atmosphere of the 1945 Autumn Revolution, bringing the audience back to the sacred moment when the whole nation stood up to fight for human rights, the right to live in an independent country. But what made the talk profound and lingering in the hearts of the attendees was not only the music , but also the simple, sincere stories, coming from the hearts of the young people wearing the soldier's uniform.
Second Lieutenant Vo Van Toan, Platoon Leader of the 12.7mm Platoon, Battalion 512, is one of those inspirational people. From his own experiences, he shared about his journey from a rookie soldier to becoming an exemplary officer. It was a process of training not only physical strength and skills but more importantly, will and courage. “I felt pressured when I first joined the unit. But it was the disciplined environment that trained me to be persistent, have a spirit of overcoming difficulties and a responsible attitude. As an officer, I realized that: All words are meaningless without action. I choose to show responsibility in the smallest things: being on time, setting an example, not afraid of difficulties,” Toan shared. That thought not only shows the maturity of a soldier but also deeply reflects the philosophy of “if you want others to do well, you must be the one to do well first”.
The seminar with the theme "Proud of 80 years of continuing the heroic epic" - a place to connect the heroic past with the aspirational present of the young generation of the An Giang province's armed forces. |
If the sharing of young cadre Vo Van Toan emphasized the role of setting an example and forging the will in the army, the perspective of Huynh Ngoc Tram, a representative of local youth, expanded the story of patriotism in the new era. According to Tram, patriotism today is not only expressed through emotions, but must be transformed into specific, practical actions in daily life. Working hard, studying seriously, obeying the law, contributing to building the community, preserving the living environment - that is the way for each young person to express love for the Fatherland in the modern context. Especially, in the digital age, Tram believes that young people need to be more responsible in cyberspace: "Every piece of information we share has the power to spread. Therefore, do not unintentionally contribute to harmful information. On the contrary, spread positive things, protect the Party's ideological foundation and arouse trust in the community".
The connection between tradition and the present, between the army and the locality, between discipline and creativity all blend together in simple stories that contain the spirit of the times. That is also the spirit that Private First Class Huynh Thanh Phat, Company 2, Battalion 512 deeply felt when talking about President Ho Chi Minh's Declaration of Independence. "That Declaration is not only a document declaring the birth of an independent nation, but also an affirmation of human rights - the right to life, freedom, and the pursuit of happiness. Those values are still intact today and will always remain valuable." For Phat and many young soldiers, deeply understanding and living according to the spirit of the Declaration is the most practical way to continue the tradition of their ancestors.
The seminar ended with heartfelt sharing from the unit leaders. Lieutenant Colonel Le Van I Nit, Secretary of the Youth Union of Regiment 892, emphasized that this was not only a commemorative activity but also an opportunity to improve spiritual life, foster revolutionary ideals and build political mettle for union members and young people in the armed forces. Sharing the same view, Colonel Cao Minh Tam, Deputy Political Commissar of the An Giang Provincial Military Command, said that the youth union organizations in the provincial armed forces are actively implementing many emulation movements associated with political tasks, focusing on promoting the spirit of vanguard and creativity of young people, organizing "returning to the source" activities, honoring those with meritorious services, and building youth projects associated with important political events.
“Proud of 80 years of continuing the heroic epic” is not only the name of a discussion, but also a strong message sent by the youth of An Giang Armed Forces to the community: Live worthy of the past, be responsible for the present and aspire for the future. The heroic epic of the nation will continue to be written, not only by feats, but also by the silent actions, strong will and passionate hearts of today's youth.
