Apartment fire safety requires action from both sides.

This terrible fire has startled many people, at least for the time being. People living in apartment buildings are rushing to buy rope ladders to escape and fire prevention equipment. The Hanoi People's Committee has issued a telegram to strengthen fire prevention and fighting for multi-apartment buildings (commonly known as mini apartments).

The price to pay for awakening is too high. It is the disease of the management as well as the people.

Such analysis shows that fire prevention is a permanent task, always with high vigilance. This is about safety of life and property, not a matter of calling for a movement.

To minimize fires, we must act from both sides. First of all, it is the responsibility of the management agencies, not to be negligent or for some reason ignore violations. A mini apartment building built without permission must be stopped. Or a housing project that does not ensure fire prevention and fighting standards must be followed, any violations must be handled immediately. Government officials should not cause difficulties for negative purposes, but do it out of their heart and responsibility to ensure the safety of people's lives and property, which will be convincing.

But even if the fire prevention and fighting system meets standards, if people are not aware and live carelessly, it will still cause fires. Many house and apartment fires are caused by burning votive paper, leaking gasoline, and damaged electrical systems in the home causing short circuits. Therefore, every person and every family must be aware of fire safety, and at the same time remind and cooperate with the authorities and neighbors in the apartment building and residential area in fire prevention and fighting activities.

Although both the government and the people take action to prevent and fight fires, proactive preparedness in case of fire is not redundant. We cannot be subjective, but each family must equip themselves with knowledge, skills and tools to escape when a fire or explosion occurs.

The story of Mr. Nguyen Cong Huy's rope ladder saving a family of four in the recent mini apartment fire is a very valuable lesson.
