The truth makes the article attractive
When revolutionary journalism had not yet been born, the articles of leader Nguyen Ai Quoc on his journey to find a way to save the country attracted a large number of readers, because he wrote the truth in an inspiring way that even in a lifetime of journalism, we would find it difficult to keep up. With a sharp mind, these were articles exposing the evil nature of capitalism expressed in a language rich in images and attractive. The more he sympathized with the workers, the more he hated the regime of man exploiting man. When talking about capitalism, readers would certainly immediately think of the article The Russian Revolution and the Colonial Peoples published in the newspaper Workers' Life No. 20 in 1924. Under his pen, capitalism appeared like a leech with two tentacles. One tentacle attached to the proletariat in the mother country, the other to the proletariat in the colonies. To kill that animal, both tentacles had to be cut off at the same time; If only one sucker is cut off, the other will still suck the blood of the proletariat and the animal will still live, the cut sucker will grow back.
In just a few short lines, the author has both described the nature of capitalism and proposed a revolutionary method, which is for the proletariat of the whole world to unite to overthrow this regime. President Ho Chi Minh's later writings all had the power to strongly move people's hearts, arousing the aspirations of the nation. The Calls for National Resistance against French colonialism and American imperialism were like a proclamation to the country, calling on the entire people to rise up and drive out the invaders.
The function of the press is first and foremost to reflect life, and journalists are like “secretaries of the times”. In the midst of a busy life, choosing what to write, who to write for, and how to write are questions that are constantly on the minds of journalists when working. Not everything that happens in real life is reported in the press, but good things are reported, encouraged, and spread; bad things are criticized, fought, and eliminated. There are many cases that exist, but they are against good customs and traditions, so they are not written about, because reporting them is counterproductive to propaganda.
The truth of a journalistic work is like that and only then does it create the value of the work. It is the reality that has been filtered through the eyes of a journalist with a correct political perspective, completely not the mess that is in society. This is also a requirement for a true journalist, writing to orient public opinion, especially when there are events that have not been fully verified, and there are many conflicting opinions; not writing to attract views, attract attention, follow trivial tastes or polish one's name.
Recreate reality with both mind and heart
Speaking of the inspirational power of the article, it is impossible not to mention the series of articles by the late General Secretary Nguyen Van Linh under the pen name NVL in the section “ Things to do immediately” published in Nhan Dan Newspaper from 1987 to 1990. “Looking straight at the truth, stating the truth, evaluating the truth correctly”, the articles at that time pioneered a breakthrough into the weakest points in the Party, pointing out the inertia and all the bad habits in society that were being hidden, no one dared to speak. Those were the fundamental causes that hindered the innovation process, such as dogmatic and conservative thinking; loose management; embezzlement, harassment, and negativity of some leaders and public agencies that still occurred every day.
Article by comrade Nguyen Van Linh in Nhan Dan Newspaper published on May 24, 1987.
His writings not only aroused and led the movement to fight against negativity and bureaucracy across the country, but also were a “push” for the press to actively participate in this front, especially corruption and negativity. This is a problem that every country, every time, has to face and cannot be solved overnight. Therefore, some foreign newspapers have also translated this work to promote in their countries.
Why is What Needs to Be Done Immediately so attractive and widespread? First of all, those articles dared to look straight at the truth, warning of a reality that is an obstacle to the path of innovation set forth by the 6th Party Congress. Not everyone has the courage to do that, and some even hide it, only wanting to talk about achievements rather than weaknesses. Through the articles, it can be seen that just telling the truth is not enough, but more than that, it is also a combination of theoretical thinking with sharp, responsible, and revolutionary analysis of practice, creating a resonance for the work.
Every journalistic work is the result of the creative and emotional labor of the writer. Only by immersing oneself in life, listening to its every breath, following the flow of each event, can the writer clearly see the essence of the problem and write in a way that touches people's hearts. Sometimes just one sentence can connect the past with the present, conveying a strong message for the future. The phrase Dien Bien Phu in the air in Nhan Dan Newspaper on December 29, 1972 is an example.
According to many sources of the Air Defense - Air Force and Nhan Dan Newspaper , the phrase Dien Bien Phu above not by the former Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Thep Moi Newspaper, after talking with reporters about the air raids by American planes, opened the column "Writing on the spot about Hanoi - Dien Bien Phu". In that column, he wrote "Hanoi is winning a Dien Bien Phu in the air. Is each B-52 that we destroy also a Dien Bien Phu stronghold?". That day's issue also published the song "Hanoi - Dien Bien Phu" composed by musician Pham Tuyen the day before. Also according to the above documents, the musician heard that before the glorious victory of the Vietnamese air defense - air force, General Vo Nguyen Giap praised the units that had made achievements and called for: "Units, please shoot down more B-52s, please deal the US air force a "Dien Bien Phu" blow right in the sky of Hanoi, our beloved capital". Deeply moved by the General's call, he composed this song that same day.
The journalist's acumen is there, capturing events from every angle, every source of information to recreate reality, making readers think that this is a victory with the heroic echo of the historic Dien Bien Phu campaign "famous in five continents, shaking the world" in 1954. The phrase Dien Bien Phu in the air, rich in imagery, has been mentioned by researchers and domestic and foreign press for over 50 years to talk about the historic victory in 12 days and nights of our army and people fighting back, completely defeating the large-scale air raid of the US Air Force in late 1972. Articles that recreate reality in such a realistic and vivid way will have the greatest power to inspire readers.
For a century, revolutionary journalism has been an indispensable spiritual food, helping readers gain more awareness of various areas of life. In the era of information explosion, journalists have many advantages when using AI (artificial intelligence), but they cannot replace humans, because they are "journalists", not journalists, with only cold words and figures, lacking emotions and humanity. Only when journalists know how to tell the truth with the vibrations of their hearts, can that truth "live long and well" in the hearts of readers./.
