The exchange, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Malaysia relations, is an opportunity for people of the two countries to learn about some traditional cultural and artistic forms recognized by UNESCO as world heritage.

On the evening of June 11, in the capital city of Kuala Lumpur, the Vietnam-Malaysia Traditional Cultural and Art Exchange program took place in a unique and impressive manner.
The program is jointly organized by the Malaysia-Vietnam Friendship Association and the Center for Research and Practice of Folk Culture and Beliefs under the Vietnam Institute of Folk Culture and Beliefs.
According to a VNA reporter in Kuala Lumpur, about 120 guests attended the event, including representatives of the Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia, Malaysian and Vietnamese businesses in Malaysia, and the Vietnamese community in Malaysia.
In particular, the leading representative of the Vietnamese artisans delegation is Meritorious Artisan Nguyen Thi Thin, Deputy Director of the Institute of Research on Vietnamese Folk Culture and Beliefs.
In her opening speech, Ms. Tran Thi Chang, President of the Malaysia-Vietnam Friendship Association, emphasized that the event is an opportunity for people of the two countries to exchange and learn about some traditional Vietnamese cultural and artistic forms that have been recognized by the United Nations Educational , Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as intangible cultural heritage of humanity such as Chau Van, Quan Ho, and Cheo.
According to Ms. Tran Thi Chang, traditional cultural and artistic exchange activities will contribute to spreading pride and love for traditional national culture to the Vietnamese community in Malaysia , as well as the Malaysian people's love for traditional Vietnamese culture and arts, actively contributing to preserving the longevity of Vietnamese culture, guiding the Vietnamese community back to their national roots.
Former Malaysian Ambassador to Vietnam Azmil Zabidi expressed his emotion and honor to attend this special cultural event. He emphasized that the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Malaysia diplomatic relations is a great opportunity for the two countries to organize cultural and artistic exchange activities.

This event is truly meaningful as the two countries celebrate a memorable milestone in the common development of bilateral relations.
The most special part of the event was the impressive performance of Chau Van prices by a group of Vietnamese artists such as Lord of the West, Lord of Fortune Telling, and Quan of the Second Supervisor.
The form of Chau Van music ceremony is closely associated with the Hau Dong ritual in the Vietnamese Mother Goddess worship belief, which carries many fundamental values about humanism and worldview. The custom of worshipping Mother Goddess - Hau Dong - Chau Van is recognized by the state as a national heritage and UNESCO recognizes "Practice of the Vietnamese Mother Goddess worship of the Three Realms" as a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

Sharing her feelings when attending the event, overseas Vietnamese in Malaysia, Ms. Liena Abdullah expressed her joy and hope that more and more Vietnamese people will come to study and work in Malaysia, as well as Malaysians to Vietnam so that both sides will have more opportunities to learn about each other's country and people.
Chau Van artist Cao Xuan Van expressed his pride at having the opportunity to introduce Vietnamese culture in Malaysia, as well as his joy at enjoying the artistic performances of his host country. He hopes that there will be more opportunities for the two countries to have similar cultural and artistic exchanges in the future.
The Vietnam-Malaysia Traditional Cultural and Art Exchange Program is part of a series of people-to-people exchange activities of the Malaysia-Vietnam Friendship Association in Malaysia to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries (1973-2023).
The event is also part of a series of working visits by Vietnamese artisans to Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, etc. to exchange, study and promote Vietnamese folk art and culture in the region./.
