(NADS) - On the morning of October 17, at the National Convention Center (My Dinh, Hanoi ), the 10th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) for the 2024-2029 term officially opened.
General Secretary and President To Lam attended and delivered a speech at the Congress. Also attending were Politburo members: Pham Minh Chinh, Prime Minister; Tran Thanh Man, Chairman of the National Assembly; Luong Cuong, Standing member of the Secretariat; General Phan Van Giang, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense .
Also attending the congress were leaders and former leaders of the Party, State, and Vietnam Fatherland Front; leaders of central and local departments, ministries, branches, and representatives of diplomatic agencies and international organizations in Vietnam.
In a solemn atmosphere, Politburo member, Party Central Committee Secretary, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, 9th tenure, Do Van Chien presented the opening speech of the Congress.
The opening speech stated that, in the atmosphere where the entire Party, people and army are striving to successfully implement the goals and tasks of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress; preparing conditions for Party Congresses at all levels towards the 14th National Party Congress, deciding on important, strategic and historical issues, building our country to develop prosperously, civilizedly and happily.
The 10th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) for the 2024-2029 term takes place at a time when the entire Party, people and army are determined to successfully complete the goals and tasks of 2024 and 2025 and strive to successfully implement the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Party, making achievements to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam; 80 years of the successful August Revolution and National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; 50 years of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification; 135 years of the birth of President Ho Chi Minh; 95 years of the founding of the Vietnam National United Front - the traditional day of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; towards the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Party, 100 years of the founding of the country.
Over the years, the Vietnam Fatherland Front has played a core role, as the nucleus of solidarity, together with socio-political organizations and member organizations, mobilizing, gathering and rallying a large number of people from all walks of life, contributing to the successful implementation of the goals and tasks of building and defending the Fatherland. In addition, in response to the diverse needs and practical interests of all walks of life, many social organizations, socio-professional organizations and mass associations have been formed and developed, making many contributions to many areas of social life.
By December 2021, the whole country had 93,425 associations, of which in terms of scope of operation: There were 571 associations with national and inter-provincial scope of operation, 92,854 associations with local scope of operation. The Party, State, and Vietnam Fatherland Front have gradually created conditions to promote and meet the legitimate demands and aspirations of the people, strengthen social consensus, unite together, overcome difficulties, maintain stability, build and develop the country.
With the motto "Solidarity - Democracy - Innovation - Creativity - Development", the Congress will comprehensively assess the situation and results of implementing the Resolution of the 9th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, term 2019-2024, and set out the directions, goals, tasks and action programs of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in the new term.
The congress was attended by 1,052 official delegates. Of these, 324 were female delegates; 267 were ethnic minorities; 198 were religious delegates; and 20 were overseas Vietnamese.
