This afternoon (July 18), Ho Chi Minh City National University held the closing ceremony of the AUN-VNUHCM Summer Program 2025. The program attracted 76 students from 24 universities of 8 ASEAN countries. The program was organized by Ho Chi Minh City National University in coordination with the ASEAN University Network (AUN) with the theme "Sustainable development solutions and youth initiatives on climate change", aiming to raise awareness, encourage students to share and propose ideas to respond to global challenges.
Taking place over 2 weeks (July 7-19), the program brings ASEAN students a series of academic topics on climate change, sustainable development, circular economy , and the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in study and work. Students from other countries also have the opportunity to work directly with 22 lecturers and experts from member units of Ho Chi Minh City National University.
In addition to professional content, the program also organizes many cultural and sports exchange activities and field trips to Can Gio (HCMC) and An Giang.
Notably, from July 14 to 16, a group of international students visited An Giang University and visited a high-tech melon growing model in My Hoa Hung Commune (An Giang). The group learned about the melon growing process using an automatic drip irrigation system, controlling temperature and humidity according to high-tech agricultural standards. The model not only helps increase productivity but also saves resources and reduces environmental impact.
Here, the students were shared by Mr. Huynh Ngoc Dien, the garden owner, about his experience in applying science and technology to agricultural production, especially solutions to adapt to climate change. This tour is an opportunity for students from other countries to explore sustainable agricultural practices and learn how local communities are adapting to climate change through advanced farming techniques.
