This afternoon (July 18th), Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM) held the closing ceremony of the AUN-VNUHCM Summer Program 2025. The program attracted 76 students from 24 universities in 8 ASEAN countries. Organized by VNU-HCM in collaboration with the ASEAN University Network (AUN), the program focused on "Sustainable Development Solutions and Youth Initiatives on Climate Change," aiming to raise awareness and encourage students to share and propose ideas to address global challenges.

Taking place over two weeks (July 7-19), the program offers ASEAN students a series of academic seminars on climate change, sustainable development, circular economy , and the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in learning and work. Students from participating countries also have the opportunity to work directly with 22 lecturers and experts from member units of the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City.

Besides professional content, the program also organizes many cultural and sports exchange activities and field trips to Can Gio (Ho Chi Minh City) and An Giang.

Notably, from July 14th to 16th, a group of international students visited An Giang University and toured a high-tech cantaloupe farming model in My Hoa Hung commune (An Giang province). The students learned about the cantaloupe cultivation process using an automated drip irrigation system, controlling temperature and humidity according to high-tech agricultural standards. This model not only increases productivity but also saves resources and reduces environmental impact.

Here, students had the opportunity to hear from Mr. Huynh Ngoc Dien, the owner of the farm, about his experience in applying science and technology to agricultural production, especially solutions for adapting to climate change. This visit was an opportunity for students from various countries to explore sustainable agricultural farming methods and learn how the local community is adapting to climate change through advanced farming techniques.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Minh Tam, Vice Director of the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, expressed his belief that the experiences gained would become valuable assets, inspiring students to continue acting for a sustainable future. These diverse experiences helped students better understand the people, culture, and nature of Vietnam, while also strengthening solidarity within the ASEAN student community.

The AUN Summer Program is an annual event organized by the ASEAN University Network (AUN) in collaboration with its member universities, aiming to broaden socio-cultural knowledge, hone problem-solving skills, and foster a spirit of cooperation among students in the region in the face of global challenges.
